"Nice Hotel I want to rate the hotel 5 stars because it achieves what it is trying to. The staff was great. Food at dinner was great and people are very kind. Breakfast was great too. But I feel they missed on what the place could be. It is a mix of historic and modern industrial. The rooms are nice but generic with higher quality Ikea type furniture. I don't feel any connection to on to the past. But like I said if you want a nice hotel then you'll be happy here. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Ratsch?
The best area to stay in Ratsch, Styria, is directly within the Ratsch an der Weinstrasse village itself, or in one of the surrounding hamlets like Nussberg or Ottenberg.

Ratsch an der Weinstrasse is the central point of this picturesque wine region. It's where you'll find the highest concentration of traditional "Buschenschanken" (wine taverns), vineyards, and local guesthouses. The village is small and easily explored on foot, with rolling hillsides dotted with vines providing a scenic backdrop.

For couples looking for a romantic escape, staying in a vineyard guesthouse just outside the main village, perhaps in Nussberg, offers a tranquil and intimate experience. These guesthouses often provide stunning views over the vineyards, opportunities for wine tastings, and a peaceful setting for walks amongst the vines.

Those who enjoy culinary experiences and wish to be at the heart of the region's food and wine scene will find the Ratsch village area ideal.
When is the best time to go to Ratsch?
The best time to visit Ratsch for pleasant weather and outdoor activities is from late spring to early autumn, specifically May through to October.

During these months, the weather is typically warm and sunny, making it ideal for exploring the rolling vineyards and enjoying the region's culinary delights. You'll find the vineyards at their most lush, and the local "Buschenschanken" (traditional wine taverns) are usually in full swing, offering local wines and Styrian specialities.

Couples often find September and October particularly appealing. This period coincides with the grape harvest, known as "Weinlese," which brings a festive atmosphere to the region. The autumn colours in the vineyards are stunning, providing a beautiful backdrop for romantic walks and wine tastings. Many local events celebrating the new wine also take place at this time.

For those who prefer slightly warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours, July and August are excellent. The weather is great for leisurely bike rides through the Südsteirische Weinstraße (South Styrian Wine Road) or relaxing by a hotel pool with vineyard views.
