Very unhappy with the villa. Moved out after one night and sought different accommodations.

The site states that the Villa is in Radda in Chianti and it is not. It is in a different village called Goeli in Chianti. It is a very dark villa with no view of the country side. After spending 2 weeks in Italy, this was to be complete the third week of our stay. After being there after one night we left knowing that we would not be refunded the rental money, we are so glad we did as we found great accommodations in Radda In Chianti which is where the this villa is advertised to be located. I contacted the owner and told him of our decision to leave. He has not offered any refund. I would definitely advise anyone to NOT rent this villa. Our other rentals in Italy for the previous 2 weeks through VRBO were great. This one was horrible.

Belle toscane

TUSCAN COUNTRYSIDE

We just returned from a delightful trip to Italy. We based our trip in this villa in Galenda, near Radda in Chianti. From this location, we were able to take daily scenic drives to Florence, Sienna, Assissi, Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano & Montereggio. The setting for our villa was beautiful. Relax by the pool or your own private patio as you enjoy the sunset sipping local Chianti. The villa itself was clean & spacious. Fresh linens, towels & comfortable beds contributed to a great start each day. We took advantage of the offered starter pack which supplied us with some basics with which to start our week. Having a kitchen was an added bonus, for those evenings we decided to lounge at home. We were very pleased with our Galenda villa.

Great Fall Getaway in Galenda, Delightful Radda in Chianti

We had another great Tuscan adventure launched from this ideally located countryside villa. We are repeat guests at this Villa, and once again delighted. The property was exactly as advertised: crisp, clean, fresh and ready to go including our “starter pack” of a mini supply of light foods and coffee, a treat after being on the road on our arrival day (I recommend travelers take this option). The Villa is placed in an enchanting restored compound absolutely fun to walk in the early mornings, with plenty of peace and quiet in contrast to the buzz of say an urban Florence energy. We enjoyed quick visits to Radda, a few miles away, for our lattes & expressos, and gelatos as part of our day trips. Back home we always got great night sleep in clean comfortable beds and plenty of hot water for our vacation start the day showers. We used the WiFi for business connectivity, read from a collection of books on the region, and really found the unit a great home away from home, and home base to take in the fabulous times in Tuscany. Lots of little things added up to a great stay. The parking area was spacious, well lighted and at the end of the compound which allowed for the fun of at least three different paths to get to our place. One path took you by private gardens, another by the chapel and a third by a bit of working farm, with a well and hay storage. The villa was built with 2-3 foot thick walls, with wonderful windows, and old fashion shutters, stunning engineering from long ago, with beamed ceilings, yet modern halogen lightening. There were plenty of wall plugs to charge all our electronics, hair-dryers etc. All appliances worked great, including dishwasher. Towels, sheets, napkins were spotless. The rooms are large, spacious, and easy to dump suitcases and move in. Another great stay and we plan to be back soon. Much joy in Galenda and the magic it holds!

Scenic, Serene and Spotless

We were first timers to Caravaggio and to Italy. Well, we hit a home run with this Villa. It was the respite we were hoping it would be and so much more! Thank you for the wonderfully appointed villa in such a central location. Our time in Galenda will never be forgotten and we are anxious to rebook. Sincerely, The Milnes

Nice but remote

The apartment itself was nice, but it was in the middle of no where. We arrived by taxi on a Sat. afternoon. (€60 from the Siena) We weren't able to get a rental car until Mon. (Rental car = €200 a day.) After about 20 min of driving, the taxi turned off the main road to drive on dirt roads. We stopped on the dirt road when we reached about 3-4 isolated houses to ask directions. They told us to keep going. When we finally arrived at the apartment, the cleaning lady and the manager, (whom we talked to by phone) seemed to be surprised that we arrived by taxi. There was no welcoming packet like indicated on other reviews. I was told later that the welcoming packet needed to be ordered and paid for separately. The closest store was 4-5 km away, and it closed early on Sat. and didn't reopen until Mon. The bus didn't run on the weekend. We went inside the apartment and found it to be lovely and very much like the pics. It did have a funky smell; I assumed from being closed up and the mobile AC unit in the bedroom. There was a lizard running around in the large bathroom and 3 centipedes in the bath tub. When I opened one of the wooden shutters, a cricket fell on the floor. As is typical in Italy there were no screens on the windows, and there was lots of nature just waiting to come in. And while the place was clean there were quite a few cob webs, and we were being bitten alive by every bug known to man. We knew ahead of time we needed to provide our own food, which we were happy to do, but there was absolutely no food in the house: no bottled water, condiments, napkins, nothing. We were stranded in the apartment with no food for the next 36 hours. The cleaning lady took pity on us and brought us 1 bottle of water, some coffee, some lemons, and sugar packets. After about 2 hours or so and talking by phone to the property manager, we agreed with her and decided it would be better to head back to Siena and find a place to stay there. The property manager arranged a local man to pick us up in his personal vehicle and drive us to a new hotel in Siena, which cost us €70 more for the ride. When we got a hold of the owner and explained the situation he did refund us about 25% of what we had paid for a six day stay. Staying in Siena we did not need a rental car; so we saved money on that end. It was a nice place, but you need to be prepared with food, a car, and bug spray and be prepared to drive everywhere.

Wonderful week at Caravaggio in Galenda, Gaiole in Chianti

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely, spacious, nicely decorated apartment in the tiny hamlet (perhaps 8-14 buildings) of Galenda in the heart of the Chianti area of Tuscany. Tastefully restored from an old olive mill and horse stable, the property is situated amid lovely rolling hills, vineyards, and ancient stone buildings that all have a real charm. The amenities were all there -- laundry facilities in a nearby building, espresso maker, fully furnished kitchen, WiFi, A/C, TV/DVD Player (though we had trouble getting these to work well -- but who needs TV when there is all of Tuscany to explore!?). The staff (Thank you, Patrizio!) provided us with the extra linens we needed and worked with the TV. The shared pool was a real joy, and the grounds were suitable for relaxing in the sun (or rain, on a couple of days). Trails leading from the hamlet provided daily explorations of the nearby olive groves, vineyards, and forests. The apartment was fully furnished, and the welcoming information binder was chock full of useful information not only about the apartment, laundry, A/C, etc., but also about all the surrounding towns and attractions. As well, the owner offered suggestions via email prior to our arrival. We used this lodging as a convenient hub from which to visit many neighboring towns, including Radda in Chianti (fine town with good restaurants, and only 10 min drive from Galenda), Greve, Panzano, Gaiole in Chianti, Lecchi, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Montalcino, and others. Several of these had produce and craft markets on particular days of the week, all spelled out in the information binder. In summary, we had a marvelous time in this well-equipped, clean, furnished apartment in a lovely ancient hamlet, well-situated as a central point from which to visit the charming area of Chianti in Tuscany.

Outstanding Country Villa in heart of Tuscany

Our stay was fantastic, a great family vacation launched from this countryside Villa. We arrived at dusk after a playful rendezvous in Florence with family members. I want to call out the “Starter Pack” feature of the rental - fresh bread, coffee, jams, pasta, sauce, etc.- that helped begin things off right with some snacks for arrival night and the next morning before heading off to Radda to a delightful café. The apartment was spacious, open, great lighting and very inviting. Everything was clean, sparkling and ready to go, from dishes and utensils for our own try at Italian cooking to laundry facilities. We alternated with relaxed, easy going mornings, to up and out day trip adventures to Sienna, Florence, Elba Isle and the Coast. The maid service was impeccable with new linens, and cleaning. We enjoyed the gentle countryside drives from the Villa, finding the view and grooming of the vineyards and olive groves enchanting. Nearly every turn brought you by incredible country estates, small little villages, and a connection with the Tuscan countryside that we had not experienced on prior trips to major Italian cities. I am an early riser and did a few morning runs, where I saw olive groves and fields of sunflowers and deer moving amongst the grapevines. Getting that country quiet and view of nature was an added benefit of staying where we did. I also had a bit of deadline work to complete and made use of the provided internet. I appreciated that convenience and knocked off some forecast reports and key emails to keep things going at work.

Beautiful rental...

Beautiful rental in the heart of Chianti, the property is beautiful. Very quiet, very nice. The nearest city is Siena, 40 minutes by car, The small village of Radda in Chianti (beautiful) is 10 minutes. Unfortunately the pool was quite cold. The apartment is very well equipped. A DVD player for the European DVD would be welcome...
