In addition to the efficient friendly service at the reception desk, I also want to thank Ethel for the informative excellent walking tour of the Old City. You can arrange this tour with the front desk or respond to the text and book it via text. The breakfast was fabulous, cooked to order as opposed to a buffet. The view as you consume your breakfast is spectacular!!!. All in all it was a lovely 4 days. C.Buie

The building itself, the age, the wood floors, the wooden staircases, the roof top breakfast area which has an amazing view and whilst the building is historically charming the bathrooms are modern. The check in was excellent. Efficient, informative and very friendly.

Tranquil location in the city center with a super friendly and helpful staff. They servered a wonderful breakfast on 3rd floor which we enjoyed all while taking in a beautiful view of the city and mountains! We will definitely recommend as great place to stay.

The environment at the hotel was extremely welcoming, the service was great and the room was well equipped and clean. I particularly enjoyed the walking tour with Santiago, who was very thorough with his explanations and showed us the best of Quito’s beautiful historical town! Even though I was traveling solo, I never felt alone because of the staff. I would definitely recommend this place to any travellers looking for a more personal and traditional trip in Quito!

Staff were excellent. Beyond what is expected. Room was tired - safe and television didn't work and there were exposed electrical wires in the bathroom. Breakfast and view from the rooftop was excellent. Location is good too.

Had trouble with bathroom shower & toilet but staff moved us. Booked taxi for airport but were given shared van without telling us..would have preferred our own taxi despite slightly higher cost.

My stay at Friends was made very nice , thank you to Erica at the check in desk. She was always willing to help with any questions or requests and went the extra mile. Friends was a lovely place to stay but make sure you are good at stairs;)

Perfect location, clean, great staff
We arrived very early in the morning from a long bus ride. Unfortunately, we couldn’t check in early but the staff let us sleep on the couches in the common area which was a blessing. The places is very nice, with friendly staff and nice decorations. We liked our breakfast and enjoyed the view from the rooftop. We were quite surprised that the rooftop was with side windows as we were hoping to be able to smoke there (heavy smokers here). Unfortunately, there was absolutely no place were we could have smoked on the premises and that was one of the reasons we booked this hotel as we hope there is an open rooftop terrace. Anyways, our room was small but nice with hot water. The windows were not really soundproof so you can hear everything on the nearby streets. They organize free walking tours every day at 10 which is great. Thank you for your hospitality!

Staff was nice and helpful. Rooms were cheerful and clean. Great breakfasts. They had free walking tours and also pay tours to places of interest so we didnt have to seek out tours from another location. Transports avail to/from airport made life much easier. Highly recommend.

Good location
Got an upgrade to an ensuite room which was nice. Tv didn't work nor didn't the light. Bathroom was good. Local to the historic centre so food and sights in walking distance. Only downside was lack of food on the first day in the restaurant part. Wifi was ok

Great friendly hostel in beautiful part of town
Great and quirky little hostel. Provide free activities everyday, very clean. Good wifi. Friendly staff, even did our laundry for free, very comfortable place and extremely reasonable price. Upon my trip to Quito I had been recommended to stay at COMMUNITY hostel- I am so glad their private rooms were already booked up because once being in the area FRIENDS hostel is much better situated, rooms were cheaper and I absolutely loved my stay. The area felt very safe to walk around in.

Great location and price.
We booked last minute due to flight changes and the front desk staff were kind enough to let us in at 1am when we arrived. Great old town location. You don't need any taxis if you want to explore cathedrals and museums. We would certainly stay here again.

Totally unique experience.
We arrived by taxi and our arrival took us through the bad end of town. So we were concerned. It turned out to be a pleasant stay. The staff was delightful and informative. The hotel was such a different experience since I usually stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel in the US. It was fitting with a 3 world country flavor. the manager took us for a 2 hour tour of the city on Friday night. He was very well versed in the history of the city of Quito. I couldn't believe all the night life. So much fun and festivities. Our room was on the 3rd floor and to climb stairs since it had no elevator, but that was okay. The Ecuadorian people are very pleasant but only a few knew English. A little knowledge of Spanish stood us well and was fun. Taxis were real cheap and easy way of getting around once you got tired of walking up all the hills.

Amazing, friendly staff, beautiful rooms!
Our stay at the Friend's Hostel was outstanding! Located in the beautiful historic district, it is the perfect jumping off point for exploring safe, lovely areas of Quito by foot. The Friend's Hostel is open 24 hours a day, so you can come and go as you please, and will always be greeted by one of the friendly, extremely helpful staff members. A small but delicious complementary breakfast is served every morning, including eggs, fruit, coffee, bread, and delicious fruit juices. The rooms are spacious, pleasingly decorated and spotlessly clean. I never once felt worried about leaving personal items in my room. We loved the Friend's Hostel so much that we extended our stay an extra two days. All in all, we couldn't have chosen a better place for our stay in Quito.

Great Location. Bad Hotel.
Where do I start...I had high hopes for this hotel, the pictures portrayed a quaint hostel in a great part of town with beautiful wood detailing and open courtyards. We had a late arrival and it took them a while to open the doors, and get us checked in. We were taken to our room and told that the private bathroom we booked was not working and we had to use the shared bathroom out in the hallway. After having spent the past 4 days in the Amazon we were too exhausted to protest, before bed we confirmed that there would be a shuttle service to the airport the following evening and the proprietor enthusiastically said yes! After he left we began to unpack, only to open the desk drawer and find a package of open condoms, then the lights flickered and went out. We woke up the next morning and we still had no electricity. The room went without electricity for the remainder of the day with promises that "they were working on it". The room smelled like raw sewage mixed with the urinal cake in the non functioning toilet. All in all it was a terrible experience and not worth the premium for staying in the historical district, you are better off sleeping on the steps of one of the beautiful cathedrals around Quito.

This hotel really deserves its name, Friends. i can’t remember the last time when I felt so welcomed. The reception is very helpful. i inmediately felt st home. There are some nice common areas if you don’t want to be in your room. i loved the rocking chair outside my room. Breakfast was good too, with fresh fruit, juice, eggs, toast and coffee/too. Only minus is some street noice in the morning.

Me hospedé una noche en el Friends pero aún así el personal recepción me recibió de manera muy cálida y me dieron mucha información sobre los lugares que podía visitar durante mi corta estancia. La habitación era cómoda, con lo necesario para una persona que viaja sola. El desayuno estuvo delicioso y la atención del personal de cafetería también fue 10 de 10.

An ideal place to stay with friends in a city of mystery, the bed and the room was ideal to stay 2 nights, the treatment was very friendly and they tried to help you in everything you need, the breakfast was very rich, something from another world, its location is close to everything especially the big square just 5min walk. Loistava sijainti, mutta aamuisin oli melua
Kolmen tähden hotelli/hostelli, jossa kuitenkin respan todella ystävällinen palvelu nostaa pisteitä paljon. Sijainti on loistava: monet vanhankaupungin nähtävyyksistä on ihan lähellä ja palvelutarjonta pelaa keskustassa. Huoneeni oli aika pieni eikä siinä ollut ikkunaa ulos ollenkaan. Käytävälle oli lasiseinä, jossa oli liukuovi (seinän eteen sai verhot). Aamupala oli paikan kattoterassilla ja rakennuksessa oli keskellä aukko, jota pitkin melu aamiaiselta tuli huoneeseen asti. Se herätti aamuisin.

I booked the hotel as it included free parking. I also informed the hotel I would be arriving very late, around 22:00. The hotel confirmed that parking would be available. Unfortunately, there was no parking available when we arrived. The hotel staff tried to find a place but was unable. After about 45 minutes, we booked a different hotel nearby.

Sehr zentrale und dennoch ruhige Lage!
Leider war ich nur eine Nacht da - kam erst spät abends an und musste in der Früh zeitg los. Das Personal war äußerst zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit.

El hotel es muy cercano al centro histórico
El hotel es muy céntrico, algo que es medianamente molesto es que siempre esta cerrada la puerta principal por lo que se debe tocar el timbre cada que hay que entrar. Recuerdo que elegí una habitación con baño privado y nos asignaron una con baño compartido, lo cual es muy molesto, debido a que se debe esperar para ingresar. El personal es muy atento y te asiste en todo. El ambiente por parte de los huéspedes es muy relajado, muchos de ellos ayudaron al cocinero durante el desayuno, quien siempre nos decía: siéntense, en un momento les atiendo, siempre lo vi en esa postura y no lo veía preparar las ordenes y no se si fue él quien cocino o los huéspedes.
