The Holiday Inn hotel is a separate entity The photos are of the hotel. The suites have a different check in. They are very basic. Our suite was large but paint and wallpaper was peeling with stains and a burn in the couch. Other than that the room was clean with The water park/pool is near the ski area but not part of the hotel, it is not included in the price. There are many good restaurants in the Alpensia village. The apartment is very clean, bright and spacious. We initially wanted to stay in Yongpyong but not easy to book as non-Korean visitors. We are glad that we stayed in Alpensia. The village has a nicer feel and less busy than Yongpyong. The hotel provides a free shuttle to Yongpyong but it is not that frequent. To spice things up further, we managed to find no less than 3 separate stains on the same blanket and we really didn’t want to guess the nature of these marks. Our 12 year old boy inquisitively asked “Did someone have sex here?”. We tried get our well-deserved rest, trying hard to not imagine who and what happened before our check-in. The main difference is the type of room you can have. The Suites are also in different buildings depending on whether you want 2BR or 3BR. Eg Block 301 is all 3BR, and 203 is all 2BR. The Suites are fairly basic but adequate. Heated floors are nice to have in winter but there is a lack of hooks to hang things, especially in the bathroom. You have to request for bath towels although they give you plenty of hand towels. There is some policy of charging you $1 for a bath towel but it wasn't applied when booking through an agent such as Expedia... don't really understand but that's our experience. The blocks all have easy access to the village and to the ski hill. Plenty of restaurants in the village from Korean BBQ to Japanese, burgers to pizzas etc. There are also 3 minimarts which have all the basics... but hard to find butter and fruits are expensive. We skied at both Alpensia and neighbouring Yong Pyeong. Snow and weather was better at Yong Pyeong for us when we were there. YP is a larger and perhaps better designed ski resort but more expensive as a result. The only problem skiing at Alpensia is that you need to hire your ski equipment every day... there is no long term rental, which means you need to queue for your lift tickets and then queue for your equipment daily. No problem if you want to ski for a day or two, but a hassle if you're here for a week. ##### Jonathan ### 2/10 Terrible #### Chong 28 Feb 2024 Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities, room comfort #### we felt cheated and like living in hell . me and my family had a very very bad experience, we booked two queen beds but only given one queen bed for 3 adults and 2 children. 3 other family members had to sleep on the floor with an inch thick matress.We asked them to change to another room with 2 queen beds as booked, we were told that they never have room with two queenbeds.We have to drag 4 big luggage and 4 small luggage by ourselves in the slippery snow ground with two young travellers. My daughter and her two young children age 4 & 7 was falling ill due to sleeping on an uncomfortable thin matress in a (-7degrees Celsius) temperature, suffering from sleepness night. no one come in to clean the rubbish., we have to clear the rubbish bin upon check out if not we have pay a heavy fine. upon checking out i was talking to the manager (Mr Kwan Yong Sam ) about the situation of our stay and our experience, he shows no mercy and refused to listen and said that Hotels.com booked for us a deluxe room with only one bed for 3 adutls only., i showed him the printed confirmation of 2 queen beds he said it means to bed rooms not 2 queen beds, he refused to understand and not interested to read or understand. He kept twisting his words to protect himselves. His was very rude and he spoke loudly and he was shouting at me. I have been in the travel industry for 25 years and this is the 1st time i lost my cool and he crated a scene and cause embarasement. Mr Kwan told me that this is Hotles.com mistake. Best to come here with a car so you can drive out and buy things back to cook yourself - meals are pricey at the Alpensia ski resort area. You get what you pay for and needs a good renovation before it’s ready for next years ski season!
