It is remote and is situated in an idyllic setting on a large farm with an amazing botanical garden with species of citrus, palms, and rare cacti and a large beautiful pond. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed out two-night stay at the ranch. The accommodations are somewhat rustic, but offer everything we needed, a clean bed, nice bathroom and a pleasant deck. The ranch is about a 20-minute drive from the Santa Rosa National Park, which is well worth a visit for its historic significance and nice paved trails. It is also about 10 minutes from a small town with all the amenities. If you visit, be sure to stop by the tiny De La Abuella restaurant for dinner. Allan, the owners, is nice, friendly and helpful. He was very generous with us because we had forgotten to take cash and he footed the bill for our dinner and we reimbursed him later. We have a place in Guanacaste near Playa Grande. We plan to visit the ranch again the next time we are in the area. Melvin, the attendant at the ranch was very nice, polite and helpful. It has the feel of a fixer upper motor lodge. It has tons of potential; just still needs work and wasn’t at all what we were led to believe we were renting. It’s overpriced for what it is.
