10/10 Excellent
"Very nice little place. Everything you could think of was provided, from coffee pods to lots of towels. The fenced in back yard was great for the dog - no worries about her getting out."
"This was an amazing stay. We had a wonderful time and the host was great, and so was the view! We will definitely come back! Being close to the town was helpful to for pizza and food. Overall couldn’t have asked for better weather or a better host! "
"The property itself is nice-small footprint on the lake, but still very enjoyable. The downside was that it didn’t seem like anything had been prepared before our arrival. The yard leading to the beach hadn’t been mowed and looked untouched since winter. There were tools in the shed, so we spent the first couple of hours cleaning things up ourselves, which wasn’t how I planned to start the trip. When we first entered the house, there were dead bugs on the floor near the entrance, and the place had a musty, closed-up smell, as if it hadn’t been aired out in quite some time. Opening windows helped, but many of the vinyl blinds were already deteriorated (broken) from sun exposure. I took photos before touching anything so there wouldn’t be any confusion about damage. It would really help if the listing mentioned issues like that upfront—otherwise renters worry they’ll be charged for things that were already in poor condition. We also had to turn on the well ourselves to get water, which would’ve been good to know ahead of time.On the positive side, the house itself is nice and the bed was great. We did find a mouse dropping on the table, which wasn’t ideal, but we just adjusted how we stored our food. I also avoided using the Keurig because when I removed the water reservoir, there was green growth inside. I didn’t feel it was my responsibility to clean that, so I left it for the cleaning staff.Overall, this could be a great place with a bit more attention and upkeep."
Charming 2-bedroom cottage in welcoming Houghton Lake with Hot Tub, AC, WiFi
10/10 Excellent
"This really is a cozy, cute place. You can tell a lot of personal love is being put in to it as its still somewhat of a work in progress but it does not keep it from being a great place to stay. The little pool table was a lot of fun and we absolutely loved the hot tub! The temp out side was still quite cool so it was very much enjoyed! We had pretty much everything we needed in the kitchen as well as plenty of bath towels and the beds were cozy enough....we all slept well. Also, Jacob was great with communication. I would definitely stay here again."
6BR Houghton Lake House w/ Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, and Golf Simulator - Sleeps 24
10/10 Excellent
"We had a great stay overall! The property itself is beautiful, with gorgeous lake views and plenty of space for our group to spread out and relax. The pool was also a big highlight — really nice and a lot of fun for everyone. Hot tub was also nice with a beautiful pool. A couple things to note for future guests. The listing mentions 6 bedrooms, but the 6th “bedroom” is actually the game room with a twin trundle. It’s fine for kids, but not the most ideal setup for an adult, so just something to be aware of when planning. We also had an issue with the heat one night — it dropped to 62 degrees in the house, which made things pretty uncomfortable (and too cold to enjoy the pool). That said, the host was responsive and sent someone out the same day after we reached out.Overall, we had a really nice time and enjoyed the property — just a few things to keep in mind when booking! We would love to return. "
