Stunning sunset views from east bay of the Houghton lake with the sandy beach. Recently remodeled with all the items in the kitchen for extended stays. The rental includes 2 kayaks. This cottage has 1 bedroom and 1 bath with a Murphy Bed in the living room for extra sleeping options. Dock is not part of the property and not included in rental.

Enjoyable vacation spot

The location was great and very close to food/drinks, golf and anything else you might want or need. Spot on the lake was nice too. You can walk out far into the lake and only have it waste deep. Kayaks and chairs on property were very convenient for enjoying the lake. Nice vacation spot for a couple

This place was awesome! Everything we could have wanted or needed was there. Loved that there were kayaks to use and that the beach was out the back door. The place is cute and modern and fully stocked. Great location. Would love to go back!

Anniversary Stay

A newly renovated cottage, on the east side of the lake. A perfect location for beautiful sunsets. The kitchen is full of gadgets and utensils. It was just a cozy cottage on the lake, or stay was great!

Super cute place

Small but lives large. Nice furnishings and very clean. Really appreciate that it’s big dog friendly.The shallow waterfront is great for wading, our dog loved it. Marina next door was convenient for renting a boat.

Awesome property. The owner is very fast to respond to any questions. If you have dogs and they like dogs, make sure to meet Joanie two houses to the left when looking at the water. Her jack russel, Bella, has endless energy. Garrett’s was our go to for breakfast.

Fabulous location

The weather did not cooperate but the house, beach and location did not disappoint. Right across the street from a boat rental and fruit market. We will be back. Few calls to Harry that were answered promptly. No issues with the house or property. Neighbors were friendly also.

Relaxing little home with Everything you need

This little home is the perfect size for a couple. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking items with the exception of lids for the pans. It has an instant pot, crockpot, blender, etc… The bed is SO incredibly comfortable. I loved the private beach and access to 2 kayaks, zero gravity chairs, a fire pit, picnic table and grill. The area is great and surrounded by many wonderful restaurants. The Crab Shack and Bucilli’s were our favorites. Lastly I loved that we were allowed to bring our dogs. The pricing for this unit was more than fair considering all of the amenities. I hope to return next summer.

Nice little spot on the beach

This place offered a nice view of the lake, with a small beach footsteps from the back door. Well stocked and comfortable. We really chose this house for the kayak availability and beach access, and we were happy with everything it had to offer.

Relaxing Weekdays at Houghton Lake

Enjoyed the close proximity to the water, that gave tremendous sunsets during our Monday-Thursday stay. We chose to hike rather than swim, walking 3.5 miles around Lake Marl and about the same distance on the much more rustic Lost Twin Lakes trail. The last full day rained, so we did a little shopping, checking out Bart’s market just across the street, along with their nursery. A relaxing few days before heading to Rose City for a family reunion!

Cottage was just the right size for my husband and myself and our two small dogs. It was clean inside but we were disappointed with the outside. Lawn needed to be cut and the small deck needs painting. This also has no dock. Neighbors were very friendly and nice.

Snail shells galore

The inside was quite nice but the sandy beach you need combat boots to get to the water. Hundreds of snail shells. The power went out while we were there, I reported the address but had no clue how it would be out and the WiFi was still out the next day so we left a day early. Won’t be back.

This was the perfect place for a quick getaway. The house was clean and the bed was so comfortable. The beach area could have been cleaned up better - there was some trash laying around. Communication with the host was poor. I sent a message prior to our stay to see if we could get in a little earlier and never heard back. There were no check out instructions given so we really didn’t know what we should do with dirty towels, trash etc. All in all it was a wonderful stay!

Great getaway

Very well appointed, clean, small cottage. Had everything we could have wanted for our 3 night getaway. Right on the beach. Decorated beautifully. Newly remodeled. Kitchen area had many small appliances. My son has difficulty walking and everything was on one level for him, even a walk in shower. Grandson rode his bike to public beach that is 4/10 of a mile away. We want to come back.
