Great Launching Spot for Potrero and Surrounding Beaches
We were glad to to take advantage of El Pasito Cabinas for the couple days we had in Guanacaste. We first visited Tamarindo on the way in and then arrived at El Pasito thankfully to quieter and more relaxed surroundings. The five units and host residence all sit privately on the gated site. We rarely were disturbed by our fellow guests and Caroline and Etienne made themselves quickly available for anything once approached. There was a bit of a snafu with check-in as the hosts had no record of our booking but they were going to reach out to VRBO to confirm the issue. Nonetheless, they accomodated us in another unit and made it comfortable for our family of four. We really enjoyed the unit despite the mixup. We found it clean, comfortable, and highly functional for the cabin-sized space and layout. The set up encourages spending group time in the outdoor kitchen or plunge pool area, which was nicely landscaped, private, and well-shaded. Howler monkeys could be heard in the distance reminding us we were still in Costa Rica. Potrero and the Surfside community are surprisingly great. I wasn't sure what to expect but there are plenty of options for eating in Surfside or just down the road near Playa Flamingo Beach. The mercado is well stocked with everything for cooking on your own if needed. The far side of Playa Conchal was about a 30 minute drive from the unit as we worked back from there to Playa Flamingo one day. Our stay didn't allow us to explore the beaches north. Definitely a value stay for two or family of 3 with a lot of upside in the surrounding community.
