About this property
Pretoria View, Family Home with Garden in Portsmouth
Summary:
Four bedrooms and a sofa bed sleep up to nine, with an en suite shower for the super king room, a family bathroom with a bath, and a separate toilet downstairs. Evenings here gather around the dining table, an Xbox tournament on the corner sofa or a barbecue in the back garden. On foot, Highland Road's shops and cafés are about 8 minutes away and the seafront around 20, so a coffee run or a day at the beach needs no car, and Fratton Park is close enough for match days.
The Space:
Sleeping
Three bedrooms are upstairs and one is downstairs.
Bedroom 1: UK super king bed (180 cm, close to a US king) and an en suite shower. The bed can be split into two singles; just ask when booking.
Bedroom 2: UK double bed (135 cm, close to a US full) and a desk.
Bedroom 3, to the rear: one single bed.
Bedroom 4, downstairs: two single beds.
Living area: a sofa bed for two.
Every bed is made up before you arrive, with towels for each person, spare pillows and blankets, and room-darkening blinds.
Bathrooms
The en suite in Bedroom 1 has a shower but no toilet, and the bath in the family bathroom has a shower over it. The ground-floor toilet is separate.
Kitchen and dining
Oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle and coffee machine, plus cookware, crockery, baking trays and wine glasses. There's a breakfast bar for quick bites and a dining table with room for sit-down family meals.
Living
A corner sofa facing a large TV, with an Xbox games console and a stack of board games.
Outside
A back garden for your group only, with garden furniture and a barbecue (tools included).
Everyday practicals
Wi-Fi throughout, a desk in Bedroom 2, a washing machine and tumble dryer, an iron, a hair dryer and heating. Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit are in the house.
Travelling with children
Children and babies are welcome. There is a high chair and children's tableware, but no cot, so please bring a travel cot if you need one.
Bringing your dog
Up to three dogs can come along, and a pet fee applies. The garden gives them room to sniff around, and Milton Park is about 9 minutes' walk for a longer outing.
Good to know
With nine people in, the lounge is compact, so some of you will settle at the dining table instead. The downstairs toilet opens directly off the living area. To keep the street peaceful for the neighbours, the house is not available for parties or events, and smoking is not allowed inside.
Guest Access:
Your group has the whole house and garden to itself. Self check-in uses a lockbox between 4 pm and 9 pm, and check-out is by 10 am. One ME-zone parking permit for one car is included and set up for you. It applies only from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm; otherwise street parking is unrestricted.
The Area:
Pretoria Road is in Milton, a residential part of Southsea on the eastern side of Portsmouth. Fratton Park, where Portsmouth play their home games, is about 11 minutes on foot, and Albert Road's restaurants, pubs and music venues about 15. On the seafront, Canoe Lake is a boating lake with a play area beside it, and the promenade runs past Southsea Castle and the D-Day Story. By car, Eastney beach and Southsea Common take about 5 minutes, Gunwharf Quays 7, the Spinnaker Tower 8 and the Historic Dockyard, with the Victory and the Mary Rose, about 12. Goodwood, home of the Festival of Speed, makes a good day trip, and the Isle of Wight is a short crossing away.
Getting Around:
Fratton railway station is roughly 16 minutes' walk, and trains from there run direct to London, Southampton and Brighton. The A27 and M27 link Portsmouth with the rest of the south coast, and ferries leave Portsmouth for the Isle of Wight and France.

Stairs are steep and could do with a hand rail. House was clean although in places it looked a little tired. Not enough cups, glasses etc. Other than those couple of things we couldn’t fault it.
