This fantastic apartment, located on the second floor, offers a breathtaking and unique view from the balcony, making you feel as if you are on a boat! It is also in a fantastic location, right in the historic center of Porto, where the city was born and where most of the attractions are just a short walk away. The famous Dom Luís I Bridge, the Palácio da Bolsa, and the Alfândega Center are all within a 5-minute walk, where you can also enjoy beautiful river views, close to the locals of Ribeira and their still very characteristic lifestyle. Crossing the bridge, you can visit the wine cellars and taste one of the most famous wines in the world – Port wine. Right across the street is the stunning Church of São Francisco, with its extraordinary Portuguese gilded woodwork. Guests can also explore the riverside, along the picturesque fishing neighborhoods, either on foot or by bike, heading towards the old and elegant area of Foz, where the river meets the sea and the air is strong and fresh (about 7 km away). For the less active, there are trams dating from the 1930s that also go to Foz. Next to it are the boats that travel up the river towards the famous Douro vineyards, as well as the São Bento train station, from where trains head north to the picturesque Minho region, home to its most famous hallmark: "vinho verde" (green wine). Truly right on the river, but at the extreme western end of the Cais da Ribeira, so noise was never a factor. If you want to stay on the Ribeira, this is THE perfect apartment. Great starting point to explore the many site Porto has to offer. A beautiful Fado restaurant was literally feet from our door. We got to sit looking out our second-story balcony enjoying a nighttime view of Gaia., truly beautiful. This apartment made our visit to Porto more than we could have expected. ##### Brian C. We could get to any location in the city easily. The apartment had all the amenities one would want but a few notes need to mentioned. The place needs a good scrub esp in the bathroom. Also, it needs to be mentioned that no personal cars can come down the street at all. So one must be prepared to carry luggage. The hosts did a wonderful job trying to describe the location but it is a bit tricky at first. ##### Elisabeth A. Parking is a hassle, but that's to be expected for a well located apartment in Porto. The apartment is well located within walking distance of shops and restaurants.
