"Friendly and accommodating staff. Hard- working cleaning staff. Area is run-down, loud locals in the are shout out vulgar statements in the mornings and evenings- you can tell they don’t like tourists. Sometimes felt unsafe because of this. Anyone from the street can walk in and use the pool."

"This was our 3rd stay in less than 1 year at this hotel. Just love it. The hotel has such a wonderful mid-century vibe but the star of the hotel is the staff. We checked in with a large group in front of us and although we had a reservation the hotel was full and we were given an upgrade. Can't forget to comment on the breakfast, it is wonderful and a full breakfast with meats & eggs & pastries. I normally do not eat breakfast but do when staying here.The beach is right out the back door. There is lovely swimming pool & tanning area. It is so clean - Check out the extra toilet paper roll, some talent there. It is only a short walk into town & bike rentals are at the top of the hill. I must do a special comment to Ania for her over the top service. The ownership is lucky to have such upbeat and helpful staff. We will be going again soon for a relaxing 4 days. It is only a 2 1/2 hour ferry ride from Funchal with a bus at the port to take you to the center of town. Cost is 1.6 euro. When you leave, it is in the same place to take you back to the ferry. We did the Island bus tour this time, our expectations were low, but it was recommended by Ania, only cost 10 euro per person and well worth the 2 1/2 hour tour. "
