The best area to stay in Poothurai is the coastal stretch along ECR Road, particularly around the Poothurai Beach area.

This area is the primary destination for visitors, offering direct access to the Bay of Bengal. It's characterised by a more open layout compared to the village centre, with resorts and guesthouses dotted along the main road. The proximity to the beach means many accommodations offer sea views and easy access to the sand.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find this area particularly appealing. The beachfront hotels often provide amenities like private beach access, swimming pools, and dining with ocean vistas, superb for a tranquil getaway.

For families, the ECR Road area offers convenience and activities. Many resorts here cater to families with larger rooms, children's play areas, and easy access to the beach for swimming and building sandcastles.

The best time to visit Poothurai is during the cooler, drier months, typically from October to March.

During this period, the weather is more pleasant, with lower humidity and comfortable temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the region. You'll find it much more enjoyable for outdoor activities and sightseeing compared to the hotter, more humid summer months (April to June) or the monsoon season (July to September).

This time of year is especially good for couples looking for a relaxing getaway. The comfortable climate allows for leisurely strolls along the coast or exploring local temples without the discomfort of extreme heat or rain.
