Nestled in a beautiful, unspoiled rural and natural setting of agricultural hedged plains, Pontoux has the distinction of having the last floating mill installed on the Doubs (one of the very last of this type in France) and boasts a 27-hectare pond in a protected site (1.5 km away), an exceptional "sensitive natural area" unique in Burgundy, classified as a "Natura 2000 Zone" (nesting of numerous birds with more than 130 species recorded including one of the largest colonies of black-crowned night herons in Saône-et-Loire) with an educational trail (to be discovered discreetly...).
