Most of the holiday time will surely be spent on the front terrace and by the pool, either catching sun, eating alfresco or simply enjoying a drink whilst appreciating the tranquillity and superb views. The main gate leads down to the garden and front terrace where you will find garden furniture and a hammock to laze away the days - and a built-in barbecue, perfect for eating alfresco. Casa Jardim Mar is surrounded by banana tree plantations. Very well furnished and comfortable, with air conditioning, it has a large open-plan lounge/dining, modern fully equipped kitchen and three bedrooms, in addition to the leisure/games room on the first floor. As you enter the house, the hall leads to the open plan lounge/dining and onto the modern fully equipped kitchen. The master bedroom (with en-suite) opens up to the terrace and benefits form the great views. The second double and twin bedrooms share a full bathroom. On the first floor you will find a large leisure room with a second TV and Playstation, sitting area and table games, which leads onto a small balcony with a table and chairs, perfect for a quiet read or cocktail with that outstanding view to the village and to the ocean. An extra bed is available in this area for a 7th person. NOTES ON ACCOMMODATION Casa Jardim Mar is great for those seeking an away from it all holiday property, but this means is does not have direct access to the road. From the road, there are 25 steps down to reach a pathway that runs for 65 metres past other houses and banana tree plantations before a further 17 steps down lead to the main gate of the Casa Jardim Mar. It is not suitable for those with walking difficulties. On arrival and departure, help is provided in carrying the luggage down the steps, should you require this. There is a washing machine in the villa for guests use. There is free Wi-Fi connection throughout the Villa. Although not essential, as in most villas, a hire car is recommended. Ponta do Sol is considered the area of Madeira with the most sun. On the roundabout of Ponta do Sol (where you have access to the expressway), 1 km from the house, is the closest café, bakery and supermarket. Opposite is a small shopping centre where you can find additional shops and facilities. Swimming pool Rectangular pool, 5m X 2,5m Depth: 1,50m Pool heating is optional and costs 150€ per week for a setting of 24ºC, 180€ per week for a setting of 25ºC and 220€ per week for a setting of 26ºC, paid in cash on arrival. Pool heating should be requested at least one week in advance. Should it be requested within this period or after arrival at the villa, the minimum charge applicable is one week, which is payable from the time the pool heating is turned on. Cleaning The property is prepared for your arrival. For stays of longer than 7 nights, a change of linen and towels, and light mid-stay cleaning of bathrooms is provided on a day and time to be advised at check-in. All linen and towels are provided, including towels for the swimming pool. For health reasons, linen for a baby cot is not provided and you should bring your own. Guests need to vacate the villa during a mid-stay clean and change of linen. The town of Ponta do Sol at sea level, less than a kilometre from the roundabout, offers additional restaurants and cafés (and three small hotels), as well as a couple of trendy bars. Ponta do Sol is known as the sunniest place for Villas in Madeira, and the whole town front is a rocky beach with access to the sea. 10 minutes by car east is Ribeira Brava, the largest town before Funchal, and that offers another rocky beach and sea access facilities in addition to a large supermarket and more shops, cafés, and restaurants. 10 minutes by car west is the resort of Calheta with its man-made golden beaches, a marina and a further choice of supermarket, restaurants and bars. The capital, Funchal, is an easy 30 minute drive away on the motorway. The airport is and easy 40 minute drive away. There are walks around the hills of Ponta do Sol and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, with its many levada walks, makes this villa perfectly located for walking in Madeira and for enjoying a lovely holiday surrounded by the beautiful Madeira countryside. Booking notes The rental value varies with the number of people occupying the property, so please ensure you enter the correct dates, number of adults, children and infants. Please note that supplements apply should additional people join you for any length of time. To secure your reservation, a deposit of 30% is required, or the full amount if within 8 weeks or arrival, and the balance is due 8 weeks prior to arrival. Should you cancel up to 8 weeks prior to arrival only the deposit is non-refundable, and within this period the full amount. Final details for check-in and driving instructions to the property will be sent 7 days prior to arrival. A contact number will be provided, and to be able to access the property, you need to phone this number as you are leaving the airport. It is your responsibility to contact and advise the number provided on the check-in details to advise any delays to the expected check-in time. Check-in times - at the property - are between 16H00 and 19H00\. For Sunday arrivals and out of hours check-in, alternative arrangements will be made and an additional cost will apply. Es war einfach traumhaft. Leider kann man das von der Möblierung nicht sagen. Das Sofa ist so durchgesessen, dass man es ohne Rückenschmerzen nicht benutzen konnte. Es gibt nur einen deutschen Sender im Fernsehen (Deutsche Welle) , auf Dauer ist das nicht befriedigend. Und, was für uns am gravierendsten war: in der Anzeige bei booking.com ist ein Bidet aufgeführt, das leider nicht vorhanden ist. Es war uns wichtig und hat uns entsprechend gefehlt. Das Bett im Hauptschlafzimmer ist auch recht durchgelegen. Besteck und Geschirr passen nicht zur Qualität des Hauses. Es war trotzdem wunderschön und wir können das Haus empfehlen (wenn das Sofa mal ausgetauscht wird). ##### Renate K. Der Pool ist klein aber genau richtig für en kleines Bad nach den Wanderungen. Eigentlich noch nie eine so komplette Küchenausstattung gesehen, es gibt einfach nix zu meckern. Die Ausstattung ist zum Teil schon etwas älter aber alles sauber, funktionsfähig und in Ordnung. Der kleine Pool liegt direkt am Hang. Wir waren uns nicht sicher warum das Wasser so milchig/trübe war, man konnte den Boden nicht sehen und sind deshalb lieber nicht reingegangen. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet und wir hatten einen schönen gefüllten Obstkorb. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und alles gezeigt. . Was uns leider den Urlaub sehr gestört hat und wir hätten sicher nicht gebucht wenn wir vorher darüber informiert worden wären, war tagsüber von Mo-Sa 9-19 Uhr Baulärm am Hang gegenüber. Dazu noch ständig, eine steile Straße, hochfahrende Schwerlast LKWs. Und dann hatten wir noch eine Festival Woche erwischt und hatten jede Nacht von 21:00 an bis zum Teil 1-2 Uhr laute Open Air Musik. Die zum Teil aus dem Dorf, von Bühnen kam, oder von Feiern aus dem Hotel gegenüber. Die Musik war so laut, dass sie selbst bei geschlossenem Fenster sehr gut zu hören war. An viel Schlaf war leider nicht zu denken. Wer also einen guten Schlaf hat. dem können wir das Haus nur empfehlen. Für Leute die gerne früh ins Bett gehen und dann früh zum Wandern aufstehen möchten eher nicht. Unbedingt Mückenschutz mitnehmen oder so einen kleinen Elektrostecker für die Steckdose, das Haus hat keinerlei Mückenschutz vor den Fenstern und wenn es tagsüber sehr warm ist heizt sich das Haus gut auf. Es gibt keine Lüfter oder Ventilatoren. Ich finde es sehr schade keinerlei Infos über Baulärm oder Feste im voraus erhalten zu haben da wir sonst jede Menge Informationen über Mietwagen oder Ausflüge und Anreise erhalten haben. ##### Heike M. Die Bilder geben genau die Realität wieder - das haben wir leider schon anders erlebt. Es ist sehr sauber, gemütlich und perfekt ausgestattet. Uns hat es an nichts gefehlt. Während unseres zweiwöchigen Aufenthaltes gab es abends insgesamt vier Mal laute Musik (dreimal aus dem Ort, einmal aus dem gegenüberliegenden Hotel). Uns hat es nicht gestört. Ponta do Sol ist ein kleiner, ruhiger Ort mit einigen schönen Bars und Restaurants. Der Strand ist sauber und nicht überlaufen. Zu Fuß ist man in zehn Minuten im Ort, zurück benötigt man aufgrund der Steigung etwas länger. Der nächste (sehr gut ausgestattete) Supermarkt ist mit dem Auto in ein paar Minuten erreicht. Die Kommunikation mit Carlos war sehr nett und angenehm. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder! ##### Daniel F. Es ist alles genauso wie beschrieben. In nicht mal 10 Minuten ist man an der schönen Bucht, wo sich unserer Meinung nach das beste Restaurant der Insel befindet. Wir kochen viel und gerne, aber wir waren tatsächlich oft in dem kleinen Lokal essen. Das Haus war ausgesprochen sauber, der Pool (beheizt 24°) herrlich. Die Küche war komplett ausgestattet, es hat an nichts gefehlt. Frische Brötchen/Einkaufsmöglichkeiten mit breit gefächertem Sortiment, 10 Min. entfernt (ein kurzer Morgenspaziergang) Als Empfang hatten wir eine riesige Schale mit Obst von Madeira, z. B. Sehr nette Betreuung durch Carlos. Wir hatten einen tollen Urlaub. Ponta do Sol ist ein netter Ort mit ein paar kleinen Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Der Ort ist ein super Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen. Mit dem Auto ist man in wenigen Minuten an den ersten Levada Wegen. Einziges kleines Manko: Der Fußweg vom Haus runter in den Ort ist aktuell wegen Erdrutsch gesperrt. Man muss die Straße nehmen. The house has a nice homely feel and a well equipped kitchen. The views are amazing and the location is nice, as it's not far from Funchal but far enough away to feel more relaxing and slower paced. Das Haus ist sehr komfortabel, sehr sauber und wunderschön eingerichtet. Das Besondere jedoch ist eindeutig die Lage des Hauses. Direkt vorn an der Steilklippe mit einem fantastischem Blick auf Ponta do Sol und den Atlantik. Wir haben uns vom ersten Augenblick wohl gefühlt und jeden Tag genossen. Der Strand ist fußläufig erreichbar, so dass wir jeden Morgen zum Baden laufen und danach ein Frühstück auf der ganz wunderbaren Terrasse genießen konnten.Was will man mehr. We spent a very nice week at the Casa Jardim Mar. The house is very comfortable, very clean and beautifully furnished. The special thing is the location of the house. Right in front on the steep coast with a fantastic view of Ponta do Sol and the Atlantic. We felt comfortable from the first moment and enjoyed every day. The beach is within walking distance, so we run every morning for bathing and afterwards a breakfast on the wonderful terrace could enjoy.
