About this property

Lazy Bean - Private Cabin Neighboring Bob Marshall Wilderness

  • The Lazy Bean, A Hidden Montana Wilderness Retreat

With 360-degree views of the Swan Range and Mission Mountains as a backdrop, The Lazy Bean sits on a private 230-acre working hay ranch at the edge of one of the wildest and most primitive areas in the lower 48 states.

Wildlife surrounds the property, elk, whitetail deer, and occasionally moose roam the hay meadows, while muskrats, mink, and otters inhabit Smith Creek. Anglers can test their skills against wild brook trout, and guests may spot sandhill cranes, blue herons, bald and golden eagles, and other native wildlife. Some nights, the sounds of wolves, coyotes, and owls remind you that you are truly in the wilderness.

The ranch borders the legendary Bob Marshall Wilderness (“The Bob”), a million-acre wilderness area stretching along the Continental Divide. The Lazy Bean provides easy access to this untouched landscape as well as the Swan River, home to Montana’s famous bull trout.

The area offers endless adventures: hiking in the Mission Mountains and Swan Range, exploring Holland Falls, boating on Holland, Lindbergh, Seeley, and Flathead Lakes, and visiting Glacier National Park (about 90 miles north) or Yellowstone National Park (about 300 miles south).

The cabin comfortably sleeps four guests with two queen beds, plus a day bed that can sleep two more. Amenities include Wi-Fi, washer/dryer, a screened-in porch, and plenty of parking. Pet friendly. No TV, just nature at its finest.

A two-night minimum stay applies. A second small cabin with a bunk bed and bathroom may also be available for an additional fee.
