Nice stay
Had a nice stay at this property, the neighbours are quiet, the house is well equipped with everything you need for cooking / cleaning and very close to free parking (which is a pain to find or far away from where you are in Plymouth sometimes) and the host was very helpful with problems. The listing does not mention a train track at the end of the back garden or the bus stop out the front of the house which can be noisy at times. The beds were also a little uncomfy, but other than that it was a nice stay!

a good time
Really great stay overall. We left with some great experiences and memories but there were some points and issues we felt were important to comment on. Starting with the less positive, a previous visitor commented on the standard of hygiene and cleanliness of the property. On entry we found it to be as described in some reports, well equipped but a little dated in the decor, which we were accepting of, but there was a noticeable stale odour which was a little off putting initially. While the kitchen diner was pleasant and looked clean, we found the oven had fairly large remnants of meals cooked by past visitors. We found the front room badly lit and feel this is easily remedied, perhaps with one or two table or floor lamps which would significantly enhance the atmosphere of a potentially very pleasant and welcoming area of the property. The TV and media definitely require updating to a reasonable standard for enjoyable viewing. We have to say that while the neighbour next door was pleasant and polite they did not appear to be someone we felt we could ask too much of if we had really required some assistance and feel that it is helpful and reassuring to be met at the property and shown around a bit if possible. The main concern we had was to discover on our first evening that the dining area's large window was damaged and unaligned with the frame. It was stuck open with quite a large gap. This meant we did not feel very secure particularly on the first evening when there was quite a large draught blowing the interior doors open. On reporting this we were informed that the owner was already aware of the problem which was due to be fixed the following week. We did our best to block the gap with a throw the reduce the draught. Despite these issues we were able to have a very enjoyable break here. The house was well equipped with good quality kitchen appliances fixtures, cooking equipment and comfortable dining areas. Views from some areas are stunning and we found the privacy and quiet beneficial. We appreciated and made the most of the nearby train station (approximately 5 minutes walk) making any driving unnecessary and enjoyable several trips to Plymouth centre Looe, Penzance and other areas. There is a small pleasant garden with seating and a park very close by with plenty of seating and amazing views. If the issues we have noted were addressed we would be very happy to return sometime.

Very nice place to stay
Property was spotless, needs updating , but still very nice place to stay. Good location to shops, no parking available outside property you have to park on top of the street. It's about 10 min to drive to town centre. Enjoyed the stay, would go again. Have internet access that I found very useful.

Good location property
A dated but clean property in a handy location for visiting Plymouth and the surrounding areas. Everything you would need in a holiday home was provided and although the decor was dated it was nostalgic and reminded me of my home in younger years. The property I thought was ideally situated for getting about, with a bus stop and a train station/platform very close by and a small corner shop all within easy walking distance. Parking outside the house is time limited but as stated in the information given there are spaces along the road at the top also within easy walking distance. Not to be put off, there is train line that runs behind the property but it did not affect the enjoyment of staying there as it was not noisy at all. Cleanliness of the property was good, the only points I could raise were that the grey floor carpet in the kitchen looked a little worn and there was a pink/blue stain on the back of one of the chairs in the sitting room. A suggestion from me would be that you had a little faults book that highlighted any issues that had been identified by visitors and future visitors would know what things had been reported and you as the owner were made aware of. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we would stay there again. Thank you.

Thank you for the detailed review. I have dealt with the carpet in the kitchen which I found to be in a bad state when I visited a couple of weeks ago.I will be removing it at the end of the season and replacing with tiles like the bathroom. The other point - pink/blue stain on the back of one of the chairs. This was done by one of the children of a guest staying at my house. I did not find this out till after they had left. I have tried everything to remove it without any success.

Great base for exploring West Devon and Cornwall
This is a great base from which to explore West Devon and Cornwall,. Driving it's 5 mins to the nearest supermarket, 15 minutes to the main A38 giving access to all of Cornwall and 5 minutes to the Torpoint car Ferry which provides less busy access to the beautiful Rame penisular and onward to Looe and the south Cornish resorts. there's a bus stop outside the front door which goes to Plymouth Centre and Keyham train station 10 mins walk away which links to Plymouth railway station and most SW rail links The house was as described and very clean. and had everything you could want for a self-catering holiday. The only downside is that some of the furnishings looked a bit "old fashioned" but didn't impact on our enjoyment of the property. I would have no hesitation in booking here again should we come down again.

lovely house
The house was clean and tidy a bit old fashion but cosy. In a good location but parking was a bit of an issue as no parking outside between 2pm and 6pm and after 6 there was no parking spaces left so had to park around the corner where there was no parking restrictions. The double bed could do with a new mattress . All in all a good home with all you need for a stay and i would return if we came back to Plymouth.

A warm and cosy house, comfortable beds and a quiet and good nights sleep. Everything worked.
This turned out to be a good position to stay what with a local train station and bus stops for the 33 into town very near. Took the train to Penzance with a cost for 4 of us just £29.00 return in total. Also took the train from Keyham to Gunnislake just for the ride, lovely. The 33 bus drops you very close to the Hoe for a lovely walk to the Barbican and a meal in Wetherspoons. We also explored the coast from Torpoint along to Looe, a fascinating and beautiful area, all in all a good stay and Shirley is a lovely person to deal with and speak to. Full marks.

We were looking for property in the Plymouth area so this house was a great location to be based as we could get to any village/town quite easily. We were going to hire a car but there was no need as the local bus service was nothing short of excellent! A thoroughly enjoyable place to stay.

Ideally situated, clean, cosy with everything we could possibly need.
Three of us stayed here, my husband, our 11year old son and me for 5 nights. We found the house very easily and collected the key from the neighbour. The house was very clean and smelt wonderful. The fact that it was a little old fashioned did not put us off as we had everything we could possibly need and the beds, sofa etc.. were all very comfortable. The Wifi worked well, as did the TV which had Freeview. The over-the-bath shower worked very well and we had plenty of hot water whenever we wanted it. The house is ideally placed to pop over to Cornwall via the Torpoint Ferry which is very near, or the Tamar Bridge, fairly near too. There were lots of places to visit nearby in Devon too. The parking restrictions are: no parking from 2-6pm which wasn't a problem for us. We parked outside on 3 of our days and in the adjacent road on the other two, which has no restrictions. There is a bus stop right outside the house. The trains going past the bottom of the garden didn't bother us at all; the station is a few minutes walk away. Despite the buses and trains, it was a really quiet house to stay in. There is a Co-op and a Lidl a short drive away and 2 corner shops in the immediate vicinity. So, we had a lovely week with everything we needed. We therefore highly recommend this property to all, unless you want an ultra modern home because you may be disappointed. But don't let that put you off!

Excellent
I'll start with the downside - no WiFi in the house - just meant research had to be done prior to visit or in one of the many venues around the city offering free WiFi . No street parking between 2pm and 6 pm - however unrestricted parking available at the top of the road or next street. Train line at rear of house - did disturb early morning lie-in a bit. On the plus side - bus stop about 60 metres away with frequent (every 20 minutes) bus into the city for connections to the incredible public transport system on offer - Keyham railway station about 300 metres away for railway connection - costcutter supermarket in next street - chippie and pub next to Keyham station - house comfortable. clean and well kitted out in a quiet residential area - highly recommended.
