"Bali Hai was like paradise. We had a bungalow two steps away from the sand and 20 m from the ocean. We could hear the sound of the ocean all day and night, the ocean breeze was soothing and kept us cool. The workers were absolutely fantastic helpful and acomodating. The owner was happy to share his story. The decorations and setting were super unique, authentic and amazing. All the facilities were impecably clean and the restaurant had a very diverse menu and were willing and able to accomodate...

Yemaya Boutique Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"If you are looking for a beautiful peaceful stay, look no further. This is such a gorgeous property . The sounds of the ocean were amazing . I also enjoyed the fish La maniere! So good . I only wish breakfast had more options. I want to give special love to the staff they were so nice and amazing"

Punta Sal Suites & Bungalows Resort

10/10 Excellent

"punta sal is a beautiful place. the resort itself is gorgeous with a great pool, beautiful beach and the staff are incredibly lovely - especially Christian who was extremely kind to us throughout our stay. The bungalow sat literally on the beach with a bed facing the windows to the beach which was lovely to watch in the morning when waking up. the bed was big & comfortable, and having a fridge was great to keep drinks cold for the hot weather. the only thing we would comment about the bungalow is that it’s quite dated and could do with a paint, and redecoration, to match the rest of the resort. The food and drinks were amazing, especially the penne con salsa de aji de gallina and leche de tigre carretillero. The breakfast had many options so you can have something different everyday. The staff were happy to alter drinks for me so i could enjoy despite allergies, which I am very grateful for. The staff are really attentive and kind, always looking to make your experience better. Something that they could add to make the experience better than it already is, is maybe having some activities to do optionally for free like games at the pool/on the beach, to make it a bit more entertaining for families & young people, for example marco polo in the pool. Also, the wifi was just okay, and could be a bit faster and better. Again, this is just things to improve an already great experience!! we really enjoyed our stay, and hope to come again soon!"

El Samay Hotel Boutique

10/10 Excellent

"This property is intimate (only 6 rooms) and sits on a big long expansive beach. Beautiful location for relaxing, unwinding and not going anywhere. The drawback is that it sits in a narrow band between the highway and the ocean so you do hear big trucks and some traffic noise when not at the ocean side of the property. It's not close to town or other businesses so when you are there - you're there, unless you have a car or want to rent one just to drive to town (and town is not that big or exciting so I suggest just staying on property and walking the beach). What completely makes up for any downside is the staff - you could not find a more caring, accomodating and "so pleased to help you" group of women anywhere. I was treated like a Queen and enjoyed my interactions with all staff members very much. And the food was fantastic - I was there for 4 days and ordered different things on the menu for lunch and dinner on all days there - nothing dissapointed!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Plateritos?

The best area to stay in Plateritos is along the main beachfront strip, particularly around the central area of the beach known as Playa Hermosa.

This area is the heart of Plateritos, offering direct access to the Pacific Ocean. You'll find a selection of hotels and guesthouses lining the shore, many with restaurants that open directly onto the sand. The main road running parallel to the beach, Avenida Principal, is where most of the local shops and eateries are located, making it very convenient for visitors.

Couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday will find this area ideal. With direct beach access from most accommodations, it's superb for enjoying sunsets, leisurely strolls along the sand, and dining with ocean views. Many hotels here offer amenities like private balconies overlooking the sea and swimming pools.

For solo travellers seeking a mix of relaxation and easy access to local life, staying near the central part of Playa Hermosa is also an excellent choice.

When is the best time to go to Plateritos?

The best time to visit Plateritos is during the dry season, which typically runs from May to November.

During these months, you'll experience consistently warm and sunny weather with minimal rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and enjoying outdoor activities. The average daily temperatures are pleasant, usually ranging from 25°C to 30°C, superb for relaxing on the beaches or venturing into the nearby mangroves.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find this period particularly appealing. The clear skies and warm evenings provide a lovely backdrop for sunset strolls along the coast or dining al fresco. It's also an excellent time for wildlife spotting in the Tumbes Mangroves National Sanctuary, where you can observe a variety of birds and marine life in comfortable conditions.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the dry season. The stable weather allows for uninterrupted beach days and easy access to local attractions without the concern of sudden downpours.
