The planetarium is located in the heart of the Europaplatz park. Admire its glassy, coned roof that emits a futuristic vibe. See it at night, when the blue panels are illuminated.
Learn about space via a range of talks and shows that shed light on such topics as the existence of alien life, the evolution of the cosmos and the effects of time. Kids can watch cartoons on dinosaurs, stars and space adventures.
Adults and children can also enjoy the Jules Verne Voyages, the Dark Universe discoveries and the shows on black holes and time travel, among other intriguing topics. Marvel at the central star projector, which presents a current image of the stars above us at all times. The Full Dome Video Show uses the entire dome of the planetarium for a 360-degree display.
Relax with a meal in the café, as you digest the information you learned about space. Chat with docents about the planetarium, which was constructed in 1984 and can accommodate about 280 visitors.
There is a fee to watch the star shows, with discounts for kids and groups. Note that certain lectures take place in the evening and incur separate fees. Be aware that some shows are available only in German.
The site opens daily from Tuesday through Sunday, although opening times vary depending on the arrangement of special events and performances.
