Planetarium Mannheim offers a fascinating look at the stars, with exhilarating and revealing shows in English. It has 3-D films, captivating lectures and a powerful laser system. Bring your kids to learn about the night sky and the mysterious objects that exist beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

The planetarium is located in the heart of the Europaplatz park. Admire its glassy, coned roof that emits a futuristic vibe. See it at night, when the blue panels are illuminated.

Learn about space via a range of talks and shows that shed light on such topics as the existence of alien life, the evolution of the cosmos and the effects of time. Kids can watch cartoons on dinosaurs, stars and space adventures.

Adults and children can also enjoy the Jules Verne Voyages, the Dark Universe discoveries and the shows on black holes and time travel, among other intriguing topics. Marvel at the central star projector, which presents a current image of the stars above us at all times. The Full Dome Video Show uses the entire dome of the planetarium for a 360-degree display.

Relax with a meal in the café, as you digest the information you learned about space. Chat with docents about the planetarium, which was constructed in 1984 and can accommodate about 280 visitors.

There is a fee to watch the star shows, with discounts for kids and groups. Note that certain lectures take place in the evening and incur separate fees. Be aware that some shows are available only in German.

The site opens daily from Tuesday through Sunday, although opening times vary depending on the arrangement of special events and performances. 

Find Planetarium Mannheim in the centre of the Europaplatz park in eastern Mannheim. Ride the tram to the Technoseum Süd stop or take a bus to one of the nearby stations. See other neighbourhood highlights, including Luisenpark Gardens, the Technoseum and the Stadtpark Mannheim.

This hotel is not that close to the airport. I don't know how it can be called the aoirport hotel. The front desk is not that attentive. I like hotels that has 24/7 front desk operation. This hotel's front desk closes after 10:30pm, but even when it is open it is almost non existent. The room do not have a coffee machine or a kettle to make tea. I wish I had a kettle in the room. I also did not realize that I had to turn on the knob on the heater in the room. I slept in cold the first night, as there were no front desk to call and ask why the room was cold. I was not told (when I checked in) that I am myslf responsible to turn the heat on in the room.
