So what sets the Alaska Reprieve apart from other rentals? LOCATION: We are located right in the Village of Placencia on the famous sidewalk which means you experience the village's Caribbean vibe and have easy access (walking distance) to everything in the village. While we are not beachfront, we are one lot back and less than 100-steps from the Caribbean Sea. COST SAVINGS – Not only is our daily rate very affordable, but you also save because… You won’t need a rental car as there is easy access to everything! Our kitchen is fully equipped, so you can opt to eat in. Laundry facilities are available, so you can do your laundry using our washer, clothesline, and dryer, so you do not have to pay to have your laundry done. We have bikes, kayaks, snorkel gear, floaties, beach chairs, beach towels. so you can just use ours and you don’t have to rent or bring your own. Brand new firm mattresses and fluffy pillows. Our mattresses are firm, so we have added a 3" gel foam topper so our guests have the option of extra firm or a little more cushion. Egyptian cotton sheets and bedding that is air-dried (weather permitting) and fresh smelling. A full kitchen includes a 24” gas range, oven, full refrigerator/freezer with a built-in Central American style ice maker, and filtered cold water. A variety of small appliances including a coffee maker, toaster, mixer, and ice-crushing blender for your smoothies and drinks. Table settings including a full array of plates, bowls, saucers, cups, glasses, wine glasses (stemmed or not), insulated glasses, serving bowls, and utensils (knives, forks, spoons, serving spoons, steak knives). Plus all of our furniture is built from Belizean hardwoods by local craftsmen. The plants on the property intensify the pleasure of being in paradise. Hibiscus, orchids, palm trees, limes, mangos, perfume trees, and many others surround the house. This attracts birds and butterflies so nature is all around. Some days the resident iguanas and geckos make an appearance. The garden has a pergola where you can hang out in the hammocks and enjoy your afternoon nap. This is the perfect place for relaxing or for keeping busy. The options are abundant. Sunbathe, walk on the uncrowded beach, relax on your private veranda, swing in the hammocks, or sign up for excursions. The ocean is literally right there, and the use of the Placencia Pool is a plus. Couldn't think of anything to make it more enjoyable. Thank you for such a wonderful place to stay. Mae was so easy to work with, quick to respond and provided a lot of helpful information. We loved the location of the Alaska Reprieve - right on the sidewalk in the village (this is important), a short walk to beach, restaurants/bars, the grocery store and the Placencia Beach Club. The AC was a nice perk and the laundry facilities allowed us to pack light and not check our baggage. Although we chose to eat out for most of our meals, the kitchen is well stocked for meal prep. Access to the beach club which is a very short walk to the north. Most operators, cab etc.. know where it is by the name "Alaska Reprieve". I would recommend screenshotting the host's well documented key instructions for the front door, because although the lock is relatively easy to use, it is not necessarily intuitive. There is nothing negative to say - you can't go wrong. Proximity to the beach, supermarket/liquor store and Placencia beach club make this a fantastic find. The pictures don’t do it justice……. The hammocks, floaties, beach towels make this a great base in Placencia Village. Mae was very communicative and provided a detailed and accurate orientation package , with easy checkin and great directions , with numerous recommendations for local eats . Admittedly we had a small issue with the AC unit , which seemed to be due to the utility power company , and out of the owner’s control , and the ceiling fans helped keep the unit cool. We would definitely stay here again, and looking at dates to return in 2025\. Placencia village is a great destination with numerous shops, bars, restaurants all within an easy walk of the unit , no need for car or golf cart. ##### Greg O. We loved Placencia. So many delicious places to eat just down the sidewalk. A fully stocked kitchen for cooking in, too. We live in the desert so this was the complete opposite of normal. The flat is clean, beautiful, quiet and comfortable. The beach is a minute walk and the landscaping and views are beautiful. Kay had made everything so clean and welcoming when we arrived. This place has everything you could need for a visit to Placecia. The beach was peaceful and beautiful. The kayaks, washer/dryer, good quality applicances and tools made it easy to cook and make blended drinks as well as coffee. The grounds are well kept and all the neighboring yards are too. Close to the store, a nice walk into town on boardwalk(here we got to see local vendors and options for food). The beach will also take you to the end of the peninsula where there is a nice swimming area where locals go which is the river end of town.
