Beautiful setting.

Posted 05-Aug-2017
Pros: The swimming pool, grounds, woodland walks. Food.
Cons: Dinner in hotel is very good but another time we would try to get a dinner,b&b rate.
Location: Recommend Highland Safaris, Loch Tay boat safari and Crannog Centre on Loch Tay as excellent activities to do with family.
Beautiful setting. Easy drive from Edinburgh and within easy striking distance of many local attractions. Lovely building and grounds.

High hopes were met with much disappointment

Posted 07-Jul-2017
Room not available at check-in. Left for over 2 hours and went into the city for shopping. Came back and still no room available. Was told to wait in lobby. Elevator broke that night and was still broken next a.m. when we had to take luggage down 3 flights of stairs. This was the most expensive stay of our entire trip and the worst experience I've ever had anywhere.

Cool castle hotel with lots to do

Posted 06-Jul-2017
Pros: Impressive look, good sized rooms, lots of things to do
Location: Not much near by, but whisky country is only a couple hours drive
We were just looking for a place to spend the night on our trip and we wish we had spent a full day at this hotel. There is lots to do (golf, tennis, walks, swimming) and the food is good.

Excellence central location in Scottish highlands.

Posted 04-Jun-2017
Pros: Central location made for excellent day trips to prime tourist spots. Grounds themselves were amidst excellent walking paths.
Cons: Tourist littered grounds on weekend. Need to clean up promptly or set a few waste bins on grounds.
Location: Central to many prime tourist sites both north and south.
We stayed 4 days enjoying the local trails, proximity to Pitlochry and a many prime tourism within a short drive. Hotel and grounds were magnificent.

Seen better days...

Posted 23-May-2017 on Hotels
This hotel has the potential to be fantastic however it has definitely seen better days. Our room was very grubby and in need of a full renovation. We were allocated another room which was a little better, albeit the decor was reminiscent of an old people's home and not in a cool retro way. The general lobby area and hotel communal areas are pretty tired and definitely in need of some investment, even just a lick of paint and a clean carpet. The walls in our room didn't do much for noise dampening as we could here the people next door snoring, so badly it kept us awake most of the night. On the whole the hotel is grubby and tired and certainly does not warrant the nightly rates. It can't even be argued that the general condition gives the place character as grubby rooms and bathroom don't equate to character. Very disappointing when considering how this place could be with a bit of TLC.

if you are heading north this is a brilliant place to stay. Had a great over night stay with friends. Many thanks for a free upgrade. restaurant was very busy especially for breakfast but you would not know as the service was so good. unfortunately did not have time to use full leisure facilities but will next time. All staff were great, made us feel so welcome .

Lovely hotel close to town centre

Posted 19-Apr-2017
Pros: Ambience and log fires. Leisure facilities.
Cons: price of drinks, could be reduced. No available spa treatments over a 3 night stay.
Location: Lovely outlook and grounds. Nearby Pitlochry, Blair Castle, Queen's View, Killiekrankie and Dunkeld are all worth a visit.
Enjoyed our stay here but thought the drinks were overly expensive. Staff extremely helpful and friendly.

We chose this hotel so my son could say we stayed in a castle. It was a beautiful building in a beautiful location. Unfortunately, we were given a basement level room with no view and there was a wedding and large tour group there with us so the hotel was packed. No where to sit and enjoy the hotel. And the wifi did not work. Not the castle experience we wanted.

Scotland with friends

The hotel and grounds were lovely. The staff were friendly and efficient. Make sure to book any spa treatments in advance. Easy drive to town and nearby castles.
