The rooms in the basement are definitely not a 4 star experience. Although clean, this is more a 2 star hotel. During our stay the carpet was also wet and there were a few dehumidifiers running continuously.

The only reason I gave it a 2 is because of its proximity to the bus stop which was right in front of the hotel. It was nothing like the pictures. The rooms were repulsive and dirty and had basically zero amenities. The dirty toilet brush was chilling right next to the toilet; which also had a gaping hole in the wall next to the toilet. The shower had soap scum all over, the water pressure was so poor. The room had this stank carpet. Forgot to mention the very unhelpful and rude receptionist who was never there. I pressed the button and he came out of a room looking upset at having to work. He asked me if I was sure I had a reservation at this hotel, I truly wish I didn’t, but unfortunately I paid almost $500 for this 2-night stay, practically a robbery. Disgusting, stay away unless you literally just need a place to sleep or don’t mind the things mentioned above.

"It required a lot of steps to access the front desk and the breakfast area. While the outside ramp was useful for the front desk, it was no help with the breakfast area. (My wife has a bad hip and needs a cane.) The location was excellent and Grassmarket Park was lovely."

"I stayed two nights in the double wee room. It is not that wee after all - surprisingly generous with the space, in fact, with a large double bed (composed of two half-mattresses).
