Hikers paradise IN the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Kid & pet friendly!

Urban meets nature in this Piestewa Peak desert gem located within the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Walk right out the back gate to pickup ~12.5 miles of desert hiking trails including the iconic Piestewa Peak Summit trail. Relaxing indoors is a treat with a recently renovated interior with all the comforts of home and a fully built out game room with arcade games, Nintendo Wii, air hockey and ping pong. We are centrally located so you can easily access the airport, downtown and all the unique wonders of Phoenix. Less than 15 minutes to the airport, 10 minutes to the Arts District / Roosevelt Row, 10 minutes to Old Town Scottsdale, 25 minutes to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, 15 minutes to Chase Field, 20 minutes to Sloan Field, the list goes on.

The space
Enter the home into the first living area with a comfy Floyd couch, TV, and a thoughtfully designed space. To the left is the hall bath, two bedrooms (one bedroom with a queen bed and the second with double twin nectar foam mattress). The twin bedroom is stocked with an assortment of kids books & toys. The main bedroom with en suite bathroom has a rain shower head and outdoor access. Both bathrooms are stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and contain a revlon blow dryer. The Laundry room is located off of the main bedroom with Miele washer and dryer, laundry detergent is provided. Pool toys and towels can be found here and this is where access to turn on the outdoor misters is (on top of the washer and dryer).

Take a right when you enter and explore the fully updated kitchen with Bertazonni stove, stocked spice cabinet, all the essential cooking equipment, additional kid friendly dine-ware, baking sheets, oils, etc. Enjoy our favorite Moccamaster drip coffee maker organic coffee provided and assortment of teas. Make a smoothie in the vitamix or use the juicer to make lemonade with fruit from the outdoor citrus trees.

Enjoy the game room to the right of the house away from the bedrooms. Double doors open here to bring the outdoors in. Do a puzzle, play ping pong, air hockey, golden tee, games, read a vintage Arizona magazine or play the wii.

Outside feel free to use the Propane grill or Weber charcoal grill. Propane and coals are provided. Extras of each can be found along the side of the house near the main bedroom. Take a dip in the pool or relax on the outdoor loungers and gaze at the Piewesta Peak Mountain. Or look in the other direction and take in the city views and the hustle and bustle of urban life. Outside is the perfect hang out zone with access to Piestewa Peak trails directly outside the backyard gate. City views. Climbing to the “overlook” at sunset with a bottle of wine is one of our favorite things to do. Outside cafe lights are under the main pergola (as well as outdoor misters) turn them on or keep them off to star gaze. Also be sure to check out the hikers at night climbing to the summit with their headlamps!

Other things to note
DESERT LIVING: One of our favorite things about being in nature is the wildlife, so don’t be surprised if you run into a few unexpected guests while exploring the back yard trails and the surrounding areas - you might see coyote, bobcat (we haven’t yet), jackrabbit, cottontail rabbit, rattle snakes, scorpions and kit fox. There are also birds that inhabit the preserve, turkey vultures, mockingbirds, cactus wrens, Gambel’s quail and several species of owls and hawks. Keep in mind that the desert is their home and it’s all part of the adventure. Our home is treated MONTHLY so there shouldn’t be any surprise creepy crawly visitors inside the home.

The weather is fabulous here in Arizona. Feel free to leave the game room and bedroom doors open while hanging out in the backyard, just be sure to close them when you are not using them.

There are misters around the main outdoor seating area, these make the summer heat much more bearable if you plan on visiting during that season.
