Has clearly had an illustrious history, but now needs a lot more renovation. This has started in some areas, but there is a lot of work still to be done in many rooms. The strangest thing is a very unpleasant smell on the first floor, outside the kitchens, a mixture of cleaning fluids and fish. The breakfast was very good and the location is very central for Perth.

Thanks for posting in a few lines. The hotel has enjoyed more than 300 years of history. Every year we try and refurbish different parts of the hotel including bedrooms and public areas. Great location for the Perth Concert Hall: 6 minutes canny walk on the flat. 2 minutes walk from the closest car park. The room I had was large and bright, comfy bed and lovely shower and snacking extras.

a good average hotel.
An average hotel that's well placed on the main street in Perth so good access to amenities. Breakfast was cold unfortunately most of the time. Don't know what other food is like as ate out in the evenings.

The place was tired to be kind Bath tap came away on hand pipes could definitely do with a clean breakfast cold toast hard broke while you butter it coffee lukewarm parking is in public carpark that is not included in price

Had a Great Saturday - Sunday trip & stay in Perth. Hotel is quirky & does the job very well. Decent breakfast choice & service was very good. Would gladly stay again in the future.

30 year Hitch
Stayed 2 nights for a wedding at the hotel, all went smoothly. The hotel is dated due to the ave od tbe building but all very in keeping an dlots of character. We had a double room which was lovely. Very clean and brand new bathroom. The corridors maybe need a greshen up but the hotel is massive. The staff were all very friendly and the buffet breakfast was lovely.

Yes, the property is dated, but the beds were comfy and we had a good nights sleep. Didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on food/service. Bar expensive. Perth itself is in need of some tlc. Super friendly staff on reception during the day. Not quite so at night.

The hotel is in a good location, it’s easy to walk for food, shopping, sightseeing. It’s very old which would be charming if the upkeep was being done but it’s not. The bathrooms, specifically the shower was in bad shape, not clean and very small. The carpets aren’t clean, the drapes/curtains are ripped or have holes. The walls are really thin so you can hear absolutely everything happening.

It’s the “oldest” and it shows immediately
Affordable in August (busy season), but for a reason. This is the “oldest hotel in Scotland?” and it shows. Bed is tiny. Bathroom shower is tiny. Room is uncomfortably small. Rattling windows and pounding of feet above. Not a warm, friendly, comfortable hotel.

The hotel staff and the breakfast were very nice. Our twin room was fine, a little bit dated and could do with a bit of an upgrade - the curtains were hanging down off their fixings and the decor was a little bit dark.

We stayed in the family room and it’s a nice value for getting 4 twin beds. It’s an older hotel and you can feel it but it also has a lot of charm because of it. My only complaint would be the shower did not work that well. The staff was very friendly and polite.

1 night stay in The Salutation Perth.
Our stay was 10/10. Staff were friendly and overall 10/10 Room was 8/10 due to top of headboard was dusty and had to request iron and ironboard when should already be in room. And the tiled flooring in bathroom was cracked and floor was slightly sinking near the bath.
