All that glitters ...

Posted 29-Dec-2017
Pros: Central location, friendly staff, helpful staff, and they clearly take customer service seriously.
Cons: The system for ensuring that breakfast food stays hot. (This is a problem in any hotel that uses those overhead heaters!)
Location: From this location is it is easy to get around by bus, on foot, or by taxi. Perth is compact and has many individual shops. But is parking unfriendly.
Good quality budget hotel in Central Perth. Perth needs to be more parking friendly. Hotel staff friendly, helpful, and eager to please. For the room rate - one should not complain....BUT I found room 328, a single room, depressing, and the bedding less than comfortable. But the room was spotlessly clean. Shower flow very weak. Wasn't advised at time of booking that certain facilities (bar food) would not be available as they were catering for a Christmas package. Breakfast food - huge selection of dishes BUT - at 9.15 food cold, some products swilling in oil, and the potato scones tough as old boots. BUT for the price one could say this was excellent value, but cold? No! But I've never known a hotel get this right. Despite those more negative remarks, I enjoyed this atmospheric hotel, its warmth, its staff. Had I been a business traveller i would have asked for another room.

Xmas Party Night

Posted 26-Dec-2017
Pros: Old world charm and friendly staff
Cons: Some of the rooms are in need of some modernisation and perhaps some ladies toilets on the ground floor
Location: Brilliant location for shopping and nightlife
Disappointed with quality of food served for party night, entertainment was quite good

Perth city centre

Posted 10-Oct-2017
Hotel was fine for what we were after, namely city centre and close to the event we were attending. The hotel is quite tired looking however we did have a spacious and clean room with an suite facilities. Ok for 1 or 2 nights but wouldnt want to spend anymore time yhan that

Friendly staff and great food!

The staff was so incredibly friendly at this hotel! They went out of their way to help us get an early breakfast and find parking. They were fantastic! The bar downstairs had great food and a great atmosphere. We never ended up leaving the hotel our one night here!

On arrival was welcomed with a friendly and helpful reception staff. Had a really nice meal in the bar where the bar staff were very attentive. Comfortable bed and got a really good sleep. And the shower was brilliant in a lot of hotels not a brilliant flow of water but this one was brilliant. Breakfast was nicely displayed with a good selection only minor fault I like scrambled eggs and the dish was empty and it took a while for it to be replaced but overall brilliant and would recommend it to others.

Useful city centre hotel

Posted 28-Sep-2017
Pros: Traditional character.
Cons: The floors are very creaky, but that will be a sign of age, and probably just something to put up with.
Location: City centre, with easy access to many scenic areas.
A traditional , long established hotel, well used and well loved by locals and visitors alike.

I love staying in old hotels and the Saluation (the "Sally") is reported to be the oldest hotel in Scotland. There are certain compromises inherent in accommodating history so expect smaller (but still cozy) rooms and "quirks" such as the routes one takes to their room. The beds were comfortable but not built for taller people and are not queen sized so couples will be tight. There is a smaller wardrobe and a general lack of storage space (you are in Britain after all) but it was comfortable.

Great stay

A very nice hotel, full of character. Quite complicated layout, but that is part of the charm! Had a lovely room, decent size with a view over South Street. Breakfast is served in a grand banqueting hall on the first floor.
