A decent place to stay for a decent price

Posted 10-Nov-2016
It was in a great location. A great to walk through town from. The hotel bar was good, with good food. The only downside was the noise in the rooms. The floors were squeeky on my floor and the ones above. Anytime anybody came or went from other rooms it was very clear in my room. And when house keeping started in the morning it was very clear. Overall it was a good stay, but I'm glad I wasn't there too many nights.

It's an old hotel...just so you're not surprised!

Pros: A charming old hotel!
Cons: Bathrooms could use a little updating.
Location: We did not spend much time in Perth, but it was a convenient stop for us on the way to Glasgow.
We stayed here only one night on our trip to Scotland. We booked a family room which said one double bed and one single bed on the reservation; in actuality it was two twin beds and one bunk bed. We had a good laugh...settled our son into the bunk, and then did our best Lucy and Ricky good night kiss as we turned into our separate beds! Check-in was easy and very personal; it was like we were friends that they were waiting for. They asked if we wanted a newspaper in the morning; and told us about the included breakfast. She also did a good job of explaining the parking option, which was helpful (it's a public lot that charges after 9am...but she explained that if we paid that night it would roll over to the morning and we wouldn't have to go down and pay in the am). The room was clean and had all the things you expect in an old hotel (creaky floors, etc.). We had an issue with the hot water in the bathroom for showers, but not enough to ruin our stay. My favorite part was the coffee/tea set up in the room, complete with some Walkers Shortbread Cookies. Yummy! Breakfast was so great. It's served in their dining room, proper service with linens. Food is served buffet style and had a good variety including some tradition Scottish fare like haggis and black pudding (blood sausage). All in all it was a great stop on our Scotland experience.

Trying it's best to retain the 50s status

Decent hotel, 15min walk from the train station, situated close to the high street, amid a wide choice if eateries and pubs. Our Four Poster Rooms were sizeable but old and floors were creaky. Bathroom was modern and fantastic. Traditional Scottish breakfast was generous and tasty. The lady at the reception was very welcoming, sweet and friendly.

I have stayed here quite a few times and the staff are always very nice and the Rooms are sometimes a bit small but they are comformatble and homely.

Great breakfasts

Posted 02-Aug-2016
Pros: Breakfasts set you up for the day.
Cons: Have the smokers go somewhere to smoke, not as you come in.
Location: Right in the heart of Perth, near everything.
Very nice old fashioned hotel with a great location in the centre of Perth. Huge choice of breakfasts which were excellent. The only negative for us was passing the smokers as you enter with the smell of their smoke.

Convenient and good value

The Salvation is an old hotel with many rooms. It is located on the edge of the town centre. It offers good value for money, comfortable rooms and good breakfast facilities.
