Coastal Tin Miner's Cottage with sea views between St. Just & St Ives

The cottage is made of 3 foot thick granite stone with a flagstone floor partly covered with rugs. It is tastefully decorated retaining its original rustic charm. At the heart of the main living area there is a wood and coal burning stove with the sofa to one side and dining table and chairs to the other. There is also a small flat screen colour TV and DVD player. The kitchen is off to one side with all basic equipment, full size oven, touch hob, fridge freezer, and toaster. Off the other side of the living area is the full bathroom, which has been refurbished in Jan 2023 with a walk-in shower. The two bedrooms are upstairs with views of the sea. One double and the other with bunkbeds, travel cot or extra fold-out bed for a child available. The windows are all double glazed, there are wall mounted electric heaters in each room. The garden has a paved area, raised seated area (with glorious views of the sea and sunset) and small lawn. The spectacular Southwest Costal Path is a short walk from the cottage, with breath taking ocean views along the cliffs and hidden sandy coves. Geevor Tin Mine Museum and cafe and the village of Pendeen, with pubs, shops and a restaurant are a short walk away.

Surrounding Area: Peaceful, quiet village with a short walk to the corner shop and two pubs and fantastic tapas restaurant in Pendeen. St Just is 10 mins drive away with pubs, cafes, tea rooms, independent shops, including a fantastic butcher. Penzance is 15 minutes drive away for supermarkets, trains, buses, restaurants, antique shopping, tennis and swimming in the Jubilee sea pool. And the Pendeen Watch Lighthouse is on the way to our closest beach, Portheras, about a 30 minute walk from the cottage or few minutes drive to park by the lighthouse and lovely walk to the beach. St. Ives and the Tate Gallery are 25 minutes drive away on a dramatic coastal road with spectacular scenery, cliffs, wild flowers and ancient standing stones. Also many birds and wild life, idyllic beaches, surfing, horse riding, fishing, sailing and trips to the Scilly Isles. The wonderful Eden Project is an easy 45 minute drive away, and many gardens including The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Also bird, seal, and butterfly Parks (brochures are in the cottage). And, of course, there is picturesque Mousehole with great restaurants, and lastly Land's End.
There are many wonderful restaurants in the area. See list of restaurants available in the cottage or request from owner by email. The restaurants change over the years so I'd rather give you up to date recommendations!

Please note, due to the layout and size of the cottage (due to its age) it may not be suitable for people who have difficulties with mobility. Please contact us with any questions.

Dear Micheline,

Many thanks for making our holiday in Cornwall memorable. Your cottage is fabulous and I will keep your email address on file for the next time we come to Cornwall. We loved everything about our holiday despite the weather the first week and the M5 shutting down and the children think it is far better than going abroad. As for the cottage it is a charming dream of a place.

Hope you have many happy years there. (My reply: Yes, we have had 40 very happy years of going to the cottage!)

Lovely stay in Cornwall
Lovely quiet destination in a quaint little cottage. Not far from St. Ives and very near my favourite place, Cape Cornwall. We really enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back again sometime.

Fabulous cottage but facilities need updating
Very convenient location to the coastal path to Levant mine one way and Pendeen lighthouse the other. Kitchen very well equipped. Bed comfy. Stunning fireplace. New shower is amazingly powerful and great after a long day walking. Would recommend staying and would stay again. Communication with property owner was very good and made the booking process easier. Lost stars due to vrbo not listing the property correctly and the app not sending access code. Vrbo states there is an electricity meter and to bring £1 coins for power. There was no meter (gas and electricity freely available) so needn't of bothered trying to find £1s! There is a washer/dryer but vrbo states a washing line is available with launderettes nearby. Vrbo app didn't load the access code so I had to ring the property manager to be able to get in on a wet day!

Simple but a great stay!
The house is very clearly a family owned place and not over done as so many holiday let’s are . Simple and cosy in a location close to many walks , sites etc but off the main tourist drags. Fight your way around St Ives or Mousehole if you want but this was better. Walks from the doorway and 2 pubs within walking distance.

Beautiful cosy cottage in a stunning location
We’ve just come back from a wonderful few days in this gorgeous, characterful cottage. The weather was wild and windy when we arrived but that didn’t matter as the cottage was warm, cosy and welcoming. We were so comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The location is excellent, right on the edge of the village with sea views and a 5 minute walk to the South West Coastal Path. Fantastic pubs very nearby too! We’ve visited Cornwall a few times but staying here is the first time we felt properly connected to the authentic Cornwall and all of its rich heritage. We will definitely be back, in fact I’m planning to make another booking this week! Great communication from the friendly owner also. Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful cottage! Thank you also to Heather who made us feel very welcome when we arrived.

tin miners cottage
certainly not very suitable for anyone with even slight mobility problems. Stairs quite dangerous with no stair rail , very poor lighting in kitchen and the mats in the bedrooms slippy and again quite dangerous . light at the top of the stairs very erratic .Only one garden chair and I don't think there was enough comfortable seating and we were only two !! goodness knows if there was 4 or even 5 people . I don't like to leave negative comments but it was very disappointing .ps. no washing up liquid which is normally provided and only half a toilet roll unable to find any more .
