Peaceful hotel
Great place to stay next to Penela. Modern facility with excellent pool. Ample parking and nice grounds. The spa services are reasonably priced and the running brook in front the hotel is a plus.

Great short-term stay for families
Really nice, quiet and family friendly hotel. However, the restaurant service is very slow particularly when there are other events at the hotel. This is for me the only negative.

I will stayed again. I liked the place. It is my second time there. The garden could do with more flowers and trees. The breakfast is amazing. The kids should not be allowed on the adults pools.

The hotel is excellent, the cleanliness is outstanding and the service was superb. The prices for food and drinks are very reasonable.

Very peaceful and stunning architecture old/ new
Beutiful setting, loved the lit up bridge over to the entrance. Room spacious boutique styling nod to Roma times. We had a wonderful breakfast which due to covid not buffet but pre ordered what you would like from list, in a lovly modern restaurant with views, The bar again modern styling but fitting in its original structure. Infoor Pool need a pool cap which are available at reception. Lovely pool due covid jacuzzi section and saunas were not available. But didbt mind nust happy to have the pool to myself. Would definitely stay again, there are go karts bikes and tandem bike can hire. And the resturant was closed but we walked to the penela centre for tea. Theres also a steak restaurant near there too.

Hotel muito bonito, mas espaços exteriores muito mal aproveitados, piscina exterior muito pequena num espaço muito grande com possibilidade de um piscina bem maior, num espaço cheio de relva á volta, mal tratada pois não é indicada para estender a toalha, desconfortável para andar descalço sujeito a magoar os pés. Staff extremamente simpático e profissional numa gestão que deixa a desejar. Marca-mos jantar para as 21h15 e só nos sentaram às 22h, desculpa da atualidade o COVID, serve para tudo agora. Mas acaba-mos por ser bem servidos pela excelente equipa que serve na restauração, parabéns a eles. Não tenciono voltar.

We were the last guests before the hotel closed due to the coronavirus situation. They looked after us right to the end and were very kind, attentive, and professional. I can't rate this hotel and the staff and management highly enough. I hope that once all this is over they will continue to operate as a first class, comfortable and friendly hotel. Thank you.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. The room is comfortable. The best thing is the breakfast buffet which is fantastic. The food in the restaurant is also very good, but the menu doesn't change so the choice becomes limited.

Staff ok. Few seats on the indoor pool. During the night there was a lot of noise, we woke up a few Times. Someone Said it was a pool machine, not pleasent.

Excellent pool area. Very clean and welcoming. I would recommend a tour of the hotel rather than having to look for amenities.

We have been using the hotel about six times over the last two years. The only down side is the restaurant, the breakfast is good but but meals for dinner are not consistently good!

the staff here are amazing, really friendly and helpful. The hotel has a nice but small spa area with an indoor and outdoor pool. Breakfast is simple but more than enough. I would definitely recommend tis hotel for a relaxing stay.

Very nice property in a beautiful setting. 20 minute drive from Coimbra. Great amenities including both an indoor and outdoor pool. The kids had lots of fun and the parents could relax :)

Superb find
This is a hidden gem of an hotel in Penela. Looks nothing from the outside though it’s setting near the forest and stream is beautiful. Inside it’s ultra modern and very comfortable. Spa and pool areas great. Though inside pool noisy with children when we visited the outside pool was serene. Dinner at night was an special BBQ event with live music - excellent evening and a lovely surprise!

Gorgeous hotel with excellent amenities. Penela is an undiscovered beautiful small town, quiet with cobblestone streets and beautiful castle on the hilltop. A charming medieval town. Definitely worth a visit!

Staff nice but not well managed. Lack in a real management as it's very unorganised. Not enough breakfast sitting for the amount of guests. Guests wait too long to be seated for breakfast. Poor breakfast. Thinks run out at breakfast and you have to chase it and still take to long to arrive ( ex. Hot water for tea, cheese , fruit , etc) which you don't want anymore when it finally comes. You have to wait forever to order a drink at the bar ( paying bar at eve) wait to get it and even chase the guy to pay for! Indoor swimming pool it's not enough for the amount of guest. It feels like a jacuzzi rather then pool. There is only 7 chairs and not place to leave your stuff ( ppl left on the floor and got stepped on it) and small kids can swim without swimming nappies ( so weewee is guaranteed! Woohoo) . No information in what to do , etc. . Not enjoyable experience. The owner wants to bite more than he can chew!

This hotel exceeded my expectations again and again! The staff all spoke some English, were polite and patient with my lack of Portuguese. The in room robes and large towels were exceeded only by the super comfortable bed and spacious room. The swimming pool, Turkish Bath and Sauna were terrific. Overall, quiet and relaxing! We had a lovely dinner, too!!

Great Hotel, Even better Massage SPA
We've spent a magnificent weekend for whom was looking for relax. The open access SPA has what it is enough for some short stay relaxing moments. We've tried the side-by-side massage and it was absolutely magnificent. We'll definitely come back, not only for the hotel and SPA, but also for to have those magnificent hands again in our backs and necks.

Beautiful exterior, pool, lawns, nice stream.
While the facility is relatively new and in good shape, it is rather overdone in terms of the decor's inexorable focus on grey, black , white, and only modern, ultra abstract objects. Rather unrelenting, and therefore not interesting. The bed was fine. Weirdly, however, the lights to the two sides of the bed were around 25 watts, making it impossible to read to them, and requiring that the entire room lights, the only other source of light, be turned on to read. So your choices were a million watts, or 25, and nothing in between. The shower was luxurious, but there was absolutely no place to put even a bar of soap, shampoo, anything at all. So everything goes on the floor of the shower. The food in the restaurant is excellent and we came back for that, even after gratefully checking out. The staff are polite, helpful and lovely.

We found the hotel sadly lacking. Breakfast staff made no communication. Little choice in the meal menus. As a vegetarian I had no choice - so we ate out. Tbf I didn't bother to ask as to options as the ambiance wasn't overly inviting. Got a little better on Friday night with s change iof staff. Given the funding the organisation were given to resurrect the previously beautiful old building it seems a sad waste. Tacky plastic chairs, and general furnishings added to waste water not flowing from the basins and bath. Wouldn't bother again.

Staff were great,Friendly and helpfull.Fantastic location,Relaxing. We didnt use the spa so cant comment on that. Used the restaurant once and was disapointed that there was no chicken or pasta meals availlable. Be aware, if its important to you there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room....Strange! But overall a good stay.

Great hotel in a stunning location. Breakfast was very well layer out and plentiful, although the breakfast area somewhat cold. Beautiful river running by the hotel together with the spa make it a must for any couple or family.

Hotel is located in a very idyllic location in Penela with open meadows, olive orchards, and a babbling brook. The staff was very friendly and the in house restaurant is high class. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and a bit far from Coimbra.
