Bed was clean, and common area was nice, but the toilets on the first floor were disgusting... a lot of flies and cockroaches... breakfast was ok, nothing special, but anytime coffee/tea and cookies was nice. They close doors after 21:00, so if you check in after 21:00, you need to contact them, otherwise you will not be able to come in(maybe someone open door, but can’t be sure)?

+ decent location + comfy bed + nice ground floor shared area with water cooler, tea, coffee - shared toilets/showers in poor condition. - very thin walls (or closed connecting door between rooms) so you can hear every word your loud Neighbours say - power failure late evening leading to stuff turning on and off repeatedly one night

Quiet guesthouse
Good quiet location. Breakfast consists of white bread, biscuits, coffee, and a prepackaged cake. I would stay here again because of the location.

I love how helpful and accommodating they are. I was a bit bummed that our room didn't have a window (made me feel a bit claustrophobic), but since we spent most of our times outside, it didn't matter much. It was an overall a very pleasant experience and I'd definitely recommend them.

Overall it was a great stay here. We stayed for four nights after initially booking three, really easy to add another night and the owner let us stay in the same room which was really helpful. The room was small but clean. Shared bathrooms are fine, could do with a thorough clean but I imagine it’s hard in a place like this. Ac and a fan in the room, so good that it actually felt cold at night. Great location in terms of walking distance to places. Owner was really friendly and helpful: there was heavy rainfall and he was stood at the door making sure people were safe walking past in the floods. Also, he helped us book our boat tickets to Langkawi and got them to us saving us a trip to the ferry port. I would stay here again in Georgetown.

Great location, clean rooms, lovely staff. Sharing bathrooms is always a pain, but not a lot of options in an old building like that. The street is quiet and close to everything, so zero complaints.

Nice heritage property with character in a fantastic location. Room was basic, but cosy. Shared bathrooms unfortunately attracted mosquitos.

Good stay
Amazing owner with excellent services. Cleaniless okay. Just quite alot of mosquitos flying around public area. Rooms are quite clean and comfort. slow wifi and small toilet.

We really enjoyed our stay at Muntri House. It is close to the touristic area of Georgetown. It has a great location and very nice staff. Looking forward to visiting again.

Good but not excellent
I stayed in a mixed room with 4 bunk beds. The room is clean and have a/c , provided with clothes hanger and a small locker. But the toilet is too far and smelly, not really that well maintained toilet. I hope they will fix this issue and make it more comfortable. Specially the bath/shower/toilet area.

Cosy heritage hotel with friendly staff
Charming little heritage hotel. Only nefative was there was no towels in the room so I had to ask for some. Overall, a good stay.

One Night Stay at Muntri House
I forgot the gentleman's name who helped check me in but he was very helpful and knowledgeable in showing me how to use the key to lock and let myself in after hours and providing maps and suggestions on the best places to eat. Shirely/Charleen? was very friendly and helpful in calling an uber for me as well as making sure I had maps to check out the street arts and eateries. Muntri House was cozy and I stayed on the 2nd floor in a double bed. Very clean and large size with AC and fan. I found the WI-FI to be strong and consistent. Bathrooms were separate and semi-outside. There were 4 of them that was combo shower/toilet and hair dryer was provided. Great location and easy walk to all points of interests. When I return to stay longer in Georgetown, I will be sure to go back to Muntri House.

Great find!
Hotel staff are fantastic here, so friendly and always happy to help out with tips and advice. Map of street food & street art is a nice touch at check in. Bed is the comfiest we've stayed in over the last 2 months travelling SE Asia. Room is small & basic, but everything you need for a comfortable night sleep. A/C & fan both work well. Shared toilets & showers are fine, has both hot & cold water. Pretty clean, just showing a little wear and tear but were fine for us. Hairdryer and iron also readily available. Breakfast included is toast with variety of spreads - basic but fine and especially considering the price of the rooms. Water refills available in lobby area, and free tea & coffee all day. Highly recommend!!

Wonderful guesthouse full of heritage and charm!
Myself and my partner stayed at Muntri House for 10 nights in total (three nights the first time, but decided to come back again a week or so later for a further seven nights because we liked it so much!) We felt the accommodation was such good value for what it was - it was a historical Chinese clanhouse with plenty of character within, which included breakfast each morning (toast with peanut butter and jam, as well as coffee/tea options to choose from, which was fine for us), Wi-Fi that worked very well on both floors, a hot & cold water dispenser, and the location was perfectly central for easy walking to local restaurants, attractions, shops, a launderette, and of course the street art Georgetown is so famous for! The staff were very friendly, helpful and hospitable, and were happy to provide us with lots of information relating to local transport and places of interest. Leaflets and maps were provided to us as well, which were very much appreciated. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and the place was very well-kept too. Thanks so much for a lovely stay - we'd definitely recommend this guesthouse to anyone staying in Georgetown, and hope to come back again ourselves someday! :)

Great choice right in the heart of Georgetown!
Muntri House is strategically placed right in the heart of Georgetown, Penang Island, with many places to eat and drink at only a few minutes walk away. The guesthouse provides clean and comfortable rooms. I will look to stay in Muntri House on my future visits to Penang.

HERITAGE STAY WITH HEART!
Heritage stay, old Chinese architecture, Google Dr Sun Yat Sen... this old house was host to the founder of the Republic of China, a long time ago! Family run business, very nice boss, wife and son. There was a double booking since it was peak season. The boss offered to upgrade me from a dorm bed to a twin room (at another motel) at no extra charge! If I would let go my bed so that he could accommodate the affected guest. No prizes for guessing my answer! Lucky me!

Great place for a few nights stay to check out all the food hawkers and lap up the food. Plus also trips around the island as its close to several bus stops. Nice AC room and comfortable enough bed.
