Top Paradamonte Hotel Reviews

Tempus Hotel & Spa

Tempus Hotel & Spa

8/10 Good
"Things I like about the hotel: The restaurant is exceptional. The breakfast while extra is good. The dinner is excellent. The food and desserts are some of the best I’ve had in Portugal. As a luso-American, I know the importance of complimenting your host’s wine, so I will say it is affordable, but I would appreciate different wine options such as one of the excellent Douro region wines or Porto. The staff is very friendly and kind. The location is also good. Areas for improvement: Having been to other four star hotels in Portugal, I have a certain expectation for the condition of the room. But I do not come from wealth, so I also try to be understanding. The hotel is mid-renovation, which is good because it is somewhat dated. The carpet in our room was stained near the door and there was damage on the lower portion of the walls. To be clear, this isn’t an un-nice hotel, but it did not meet my expectations for a four star hotel. The bar was unmanned every time we went in. However, we stayed there over the Republic Day holiday weekend, so there may have been a staffing shortage. Overall not a bad hotel, but it also does not meet my expectations for the price or star rating. A staffed bar and finishing the renovations would assuage my concerns."

What is the best area to stay in Paradamonte?
The best area to stay in Paradamonte is the central village, particularly around the main square and the historic Church of São Salvador.

This area offers a concentrated experience of Paradamonte's local life. You'll find traditional architecture, a few local cafes, and small shops. The village is compact and walkable, with the main square often serving as a gathering point for residents. The surrounding streets branch off from this central hub, leading to quieter residential lanes and pathways into the nearby countryside.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find the central village ideal. It provides a relaxed setting where you can enjoy leisurely strolls, sample local pastries, and experience the unhurried pace of Portuguese village life. The proximity to walking trails in the Peneda-Gerês National Park means you can easily embark on scenic hikes directly from your accommodation.

For those seeking a blend of comfort and access to nature, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre, but still within walking distance, can be a great option.
When is the best time to go to Paradamonte?
The best time to go to Paradamonte is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will appreciate the quieter atmosphere in spring and autumn. You'll find it easier to secure reservations at popular local restaurants and enjoy the region's wineries without the bustling summer crowds. It's an excellent time for leisurely drives through the countryside and discovering hidden villages.

For those who enjoy hiking and outdoor pursuits, these shoulder seasons offer the best conditions. The landscape is lush in spring with blooming wildflowers, and in autumn, the changing colours of the vineyards provide a beautiful backdrop for walks.
