Room with nice sea view

Posted 29-Dec-2015
Pros: Close enough to harbour area for convenience but not right in the harbour centre. Overall friendly efficient staff
Cons: Leda and Zephyr restaurants lacked atmosphere and were disappointing
Arrived to a very friendly welcome afforded to customers booking a superior room. The room was as hoped for, on an upper floor with balcony overlooking the gardens, pools and with sea view. The hotel is a 20 minute stroll away from the Harbour area with option to use a pleasant coastal footpath (uneven in places as some parts not yet paved), so convenient for the tourist bars and restaurants. A couple of buses stop outside the hotel for those unable or unwilling to take the walk to the harbour. However, this has its disadvantages as the road is quite busy and noisy. Catering in the hotel is aimed at the buffet half board clientele and was told no bar snacks available at lobby level seating areas. There is a mini market on site and the room had a mini fridge for bottled water and other items needing to be kept chilled.

Smart friendly hotel

Posted 14-Dec-2015
Location: The coast path is right outside and provides a pleasant walk in to town
Had a bit of business to attend to so stopped 4 nights at the Hotel, very nice surroundings, nice room, and staff couldn't do enough for you even arranging a 4.45am breakfast for us.

The location of the hotel is first class.

Posted 22-Nov-2015
Pros: I liked it all, staff, surroundings, amienities and proximity to the beach.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
Location: There is not much directly near the hotel but a 10 minute walk gets you into what's locally known as the triangle with shops, bars and restaurants.
It was a very pleasant stay at this hotel with every amienity you would need for a holiday. Bar and food are priced fairly and the service is good. I recommend this hotel.

Good hotel

Posted 01-Nov-2015
We had a lovely stay at Athena beach hotel. Stayed in executive two bed suite. Good size and enjoyed the extras that came with it. Staff couldn't do enough to help and were very friendly. Food excellent with a varied choice every night at the main buffet and plenty of other restaurants too. Pool lovely with plenty of beds. My only issue is there are no baby changing facilities near the restaurants so you had to keep going to the room. plenty of facilities for kids.

Pleasant & Comfortable Hotel

Posted 30-Oct-2015 on Hotels
Athena Beach is a very pleasant hotel, especially with a superior room. There is plenty of space for the guests around the pool, in the gardens and on the [small] beach. There are sun loungers available at all times of day. One of the benefits of the superior rooms is free WiFi everywhere in the hotel. Unfortunately, during our stay a thunderstorm fried one of the antennas and it took the hotel 3 full days to get it repaired. Connectivity is clearly not a priority! The hotel also needs to start planning a renovation in the next couple of years as the rooms start to look a bit tired.

Large peaceful hotel on beach front

Posted 26-Oct-2015
Pros: There were no children as we went while schools were still open and it was so peaceful. it was mainly just people between 50 and 80.
Cons: The TV channels.Between sunset and dinner we had showers and would have been nice to see some good tv. sky sports, bbc world news and foreign only.
Location: right on the beach with good walks along the beach front. easily walk to harbour but take 40-60 mins.
The hotel was amazing with so many sun beds on sea front. the one thing i liked is that the beach towels are kept in your room and so that when they are left on sun beds they are not removed by anyone, only you can remove them. the food from breakfast was amazing. we were B&b only which kept us going until 2 PM and then we'd get light lunch from the beach bars. we had evening buffet there everyday and that was good food for avg 21 euros each and eat as much as like you. the room we had was facing the front on level 3 and was good. The only thing that disappointed my husband was the lack of english speaking channels on the TV.

Recent stay September 2015

Posted 04-Oct-2015
Pros: Lovely location, two spacious pools great breakfast and friendly staff.
Cons: Update décor in rooms, Improve evening Entertainment, Improve Wi-Fi.
Location: Some lovely restaurant's near by. Romantica,Les Amis. Lovely harbour bout a mile away with the best boat trip Wave Dancer good food, Entertainment.
Room décor was tired but room was spacious with plenty of space for hanging clothes. Bed was comfy. Entertainment was on every night but nothing to write home about but since we out most evenings this did not detract from the holiday. We were on bed and breakfast but always found a large choice of hot and cold fare. The pool area had two pools both with plenty of sun loungers and places to purchase snacks and hot or cols drinks. The hotel led straight down onto the beach with lots more sun loungers on the grass. The hotel staff were always polite and helpful. Our rooms were cleaned every day and towels changed when required. At reception every day there was cold water flavoured with fresh mint leaves cucumber or orange very welcome after a hot days walking. The wifi was free after a passcode but was slow at times. All in all the hotel stay was fine for a bed and break fast experience.
