There are 2 piers in Panama and both cost $3 to walk them. The one closest to Pier Park is further out into the Gulf so it's more worth it if you can only do 1 pier. They do stamp your hand so you can go on and off it all day. On the pier a lot of people fish so watch for them hooks. From what I was told to fish in Florida you need a salt water and a fresh water licence in order to fish in the different waters. We are two senior travelers and were very happy with our stay. It was so easy to pop over to the beach via a quick walk through the neighborhood. The easy access to the miles of Panama City beaches was a real plus. You can enjoy the beaches without trying to find parking, it doesn’t get any better than that. Gulf Highlands seemed to be a mix of full-time residents and some rental units. We felt very safe there and when we met residents, they were congenial. We travelled in the spring and we didn’t experience any noise from the strip mall across the fence and if you want to dine without driving, there was a nearby exit from Gulf Highlands that lead to a rear door of the bowling alley/bar. It was a quick and convenient walk that led to a few different restaurants. The ‘den’ next to the kitchen was a great room with wonderful sun in the afternoon and a tv. There was a little patio in the backyard with some chairs and it was a nice place to relax. All the upholstered furniture was comfortable and there were no sagging cushions or tears and stains. We would have preferred a standard dining table with chairs instead of stools but we managed. We were visiting long enough to do laundry and during our stay, the dryer broke. Alicia took care of the problem quickly and efficiently. I have no hesitation recommending this unit. ##### Janice S.
