There are 2 piers in Panama and both cost $3 to walk them. The one closest to Pier Park is further out into the Gulf so it's more worth it if you can only do 1 pier. They do stamp your hand so you can go on and off it all day. On the pier a lot of people fish so watch for them hooks. From what I was told to fish in Florida you need a salt water and a fresh water licence in order to fish in the different waters. We really enjoyed it. There are plenty of restaurants, stores, and activities within walking distance. Check-in was fairly simple. The kitchen had what we needed when we did cook. We have stayed in several beach condos over the years and this is the first one to have a nugget ice maker— really nice touch! The beach was amazing.
