About a 5-10 minute walk lies the Punaluu Black Sand Beach, which is a nesting ground for the Green Sea Turtle. Every day it is almost guaranteed to see one or more sunning themselves on the sand. The Volcanoes National Park is an easy 30 minute drive up the road. The area is kind of strange, as it appears that there used to be some sort of resort (abandoned) and a golf course (abandoned). The only thing that's left in this area is this condo complex and the beautiful black sand beach (fantastic). Wake up early to catch the sunrise. The condo itself was fine and the lanai was great for eating dinner and breakfast. The pool was very cold and the clientele that were there, at the time, kept swearing around my 6 year-old, but that could've been an anomaly. ##### Zachary S. So I was about to leave and she asked to come in so I let her in while I was leaving. Within 30 minutes of Volcano Park, South Point, Black Sands Beach, Green Sands Beach, Mauna Loa Road, and more. Though we only communicated via email, Sam was super helpful and friendly. After telling him I liked hiking, he wrote up directions with a map to some of the nearby hikes. He also sent us a comprehensive list of things to see on the island which made our planning so much easier. The complex was really nicely set up. It had a good sized hot tub and a medium sized pool, which was a great way to end our day after exploring the area. If we're in the area again, we would definitely return! ##### Carel R.
