  • Set in the courtyard of our own home, but completely separate and private, Gadbury Cottage is cosy and very comfortable whether your choice is for a winter or summer break. It offers an ideal location to discover Oxford and the nearby attractions of Oxford City, Blenheim Palace, Shotover Park, Waterperry Gardens, Otmoor nature reserve, the Chilterns and Cotswolds Hills. Wheatley has all the facilities to meet your immediate needs - 2 foodstores, baker, coffee shop, post office, bank and choice of restaurants and pubs. The village has a long history through it's location on the main coaching route from London to Oxford - it was once descibed as the most agreeable stopping place between Beaconsfield and Woodstock. Today it's transport links are still excellent being just 2 miles from the Thornhills Park and Ride and a similar distance from the M40. There are regular bus services to Oxford and to Haddenham/Thame train station. Central London is c53 miles and Heathrow c45 miles, both have good public transport links.

Lovely little cottage , we found it easily. Clean and tidy , had all we needed with the exception of a tea towel but I’m sure if we’d asked that would have been fourth coming. Plenty of logs etc for the fire, which we made the most of just because we don’t have one in our flat. Heating is perfectly adequate. Comfortable bed, plenty of storage if staying longer. Bus stop 2 minutes away to get into Oxford which we used everyday. Lovely bakery, coffee shop and co-op in village. Over all a peaceful and enjoyable weekend.

We were here for a Craft Fair at Waterperry Gardens so the location was perfect for us. The cottage was very cosy and comfortable and the hosts helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again if we do the Fair next year!

This is an exceptionally great place to stay! Charming, clean and cosy, other than being a little challenging to actually find on arrival, we had no concerns or complaints at all. The village itself is an absolute delight with two amazing local pubs. It was magical to wander around it shortly after getting settled the first day as we recuperated after our night flight from Canada. Wisteria was in full spring bloom! The bus stop into Oxford was a pleasant short stroll away. It runs regularly making day trips easy. In the evenings we really enjoyed the fire with the firewood provided. The beautiful old windows all opened and the sounds of British birdsong every morning was the best alarm clock a person could ask for. The beds were comfortable and the linens were of a high quality. As were most of the furnishings. If you’re a large person, you may have trouble fitting in the toilet space lol. The host were responsive and helpful but also discreet so you felt quite private despite the cottage being on the same property.

Lovely rural cottage/loft close to Oxford

The stone cottage was perfect for 3 of us. We spent most of our days in Oxford, and this was lovely to come home to. Neat cafe up the road to grab breakfast and coffee from. Shops/restaurants/pubs are also nearby.
