Perfect "get away from it all" Property
Had a very relaxing 3 week stay. The property is perfect if you are looking for some peace and quiet in a rural setting. Hosts are very responsive and often checked in via WhatsApp to ensure everything was ok for me. Highly recommended!

Good stay
The property is well located (just the national road that is near the house and you can sometimes ear the cars passing by). The house is very well equipped. Jacuzzi is great. The pool is fantastic,so big! Just take care of white bikini (there's a product against algea that turns things yellow). We didn't meet the owners but they were always available by WhatsApp. They had prepared wine, cheese, bread, beers,etc... for our arrival. It was very kind. The only thing that disappointed me was the cleanliness in some parts of the house. The rubbish bin wasn't empty,they were spider webs, the kitchen cupboards were not very clean,etc... I only mentioned it when we left because we arrived late on Saturday night and they couldn't have done anything at this time (and I wanted to have a good communication during my stay.) My little 3 years girl plays on the floor and it was not possible to wait for someone to clean. So I did it. I told the owners when we left. They apologized but told me it was not a big deal. I didn't like this reaction. It's sad. We left the house cleaner that it was.

When our guests arrive we always say to them if they have any problems at all to tell us so at least we have the chance to address the issues , if there are any, normally most things can be done very quickly ,we cannot do anything after they have gone home and much prefer open communication with our guests . Cleanliness is extremely important to us. I have the greatest respect for our cleaning team we have open discussion on how to keep our standards high. We follow a two step process with cleaning and sanitation. Having one piece of cardboard in the bin does not warrant the place not being cleaned !! The house sits in 5 acres of beautiful countryside so we will get a lot of wildlife , maybe if a spiderweb is an issue our property is not for you , I rather think as most of our previous guests have given us 5 stars it is not too much of an issue . I have read all of our previous reviews and not one of the guests has even mentioned the house not being clean, quite the contrary . In fact it took us a long time to clean after these particular guests left. In the conversations I had with Sylvia the only issue she addressed to me was that she couldn’t understand why she was charged for the child but I explained why and she appeared to have accepted that . We were still happy to receive four stars though it’s still very good !

Relax and unwind in this peaceful villa
We had a great three week stay, it is so quiet there, great pool, charming villa, well equipped everything you need. Nature is on your doorstop. Saw lots of wildlife, spotted several birds I have never seen before. Neill and Mel were wonderful and friendly hosts, they were able to answer any of our questions, before our holiday and during our stay. Would definitely go back their next time we go to Portugal.

Quiet peaceful relaxing Villa
Mel and Neil were both quick to respond to any questions/ queries . The villa had everything you could want / need and more ! The location was perfect for what we wanted , total peace and quiet . A short drive to any bar/ restaurant and also plenty of sights to visit to fill your day with the coast under an hours drive . All facilities were perfect and Mel even provided us with breakfast essentials, wine and beer ! Enough to keep us going for a few days ! Extremely kind of them . Perfect for families or couples looking for undisturbed relaxation . We feel fully recharged . Excellent for relaxing and close to nature
Excellent location and well maintained property. The pool is simply fantastic and reading or simply relaxing with the sound of birds is very peaceful. The internet connection is of good quality. The owners are very friendly and available to help and make us feel at home.

Relaxing and peaceful
The villa is 'away from it all' and set in beautiful gardens. We were privileged to see a variety of wildlife and birds during our stay. The swimming pool and hot tub were great to relax in. It is a quiet and peaceful area and the villa is very well equipped with everything you need and more. Simply perfect!
This was our favourite family holiday destination by a long way. We arrived here with our two children (7/8) at the end of October and had the most idyllic 2 week stay. The house was immaculate and the grounds were enormous. The children has lots of freedom, we brought walkie-talkies and they were able to go feed nearby horses, while we 'waited' in the hot tub. There was also a games room, pool, table tennis, darts... we didn't hear 'I'm bored' once! Due to the geography of the house we were able to travel to the west coast, up north to Evora and east to Spain. We also travelled to the south coast a few times, where the children had a beach (Praia de Senhora de Rocha) completely to themselves. Restaurants near the property served fabulous food. The shops in Ourique had everything we needed, though our gracious guests had bought us the essentials so we didn't have to go to the shops until the next day. We floated home with a definite plan to return to this property.

Amazing
Just got back from a 10 day stay at this superb villa. it does exactly what it says on the packet - peaceful, relaxing, perfect, everything you could possibly want and more, attention to detail second to none. the villa itself is more than well equipped and the owners have ensured it is literally like a home from home - there was absolutely nothing we lacked for, including English TV should we have wanted it. we were emailed before our arrival to see what we would like from the shop but they also got us wine and beer too. Mel and Neill were there to greet us and explain everything and were on hand if we needed anything. there were even things to use in the pool which was cleaned twice during our stay (Mel turning up with homemade scones, jam and cream too!!) the hottub was amazing and there are 4 separate areas with dining tables and chairs. there are a few restaurants nearby and a good supermarket too. we never paid more that 3 euros for a bottle of wine and never had a bad bottle!! we used the BBQ three times and loved it. the shade from the tree was needed every day as temperatures were over 100 degrees every afternoon. the beds were the comfiest I've ever slept in anywhere on holiday and we always had a good nights sleep as the air con units were superb. the pool was definitely NOT cold especially if you used the shower by the pool first before getting in, which you should do anyway and it was HUGE!! Amazing to swim laps in and also just to lazily float around. there wasn't another soul around for miles so it was the most peaceful holiday we've ever had. to say that Mel and Neill were the kindest most attentive hosts we've ever had would be an understatement! Nothing was too much trouble and all they wanted was to make sure we had everything we needed to make our holiday perfect - which it was. Even to the point where, as an animal lover, I fed a beautiful cat for several days then one day she turned up with two adorable kittens, which never ceased to make us laugh watching their antics. I didn't want to leave them but Mel and Neill, being animal lovers themselves having rescued three stray dogs and lots of beautiful parrots at their own home, offered to catch them and rehome them in their house - amazing and so kind hearted. All in all we can only say if you are wondering whether to book this villa, don't delay - peace, tranquillity, just like home, beautiful surroundings. we are already looking at dates for next year, a true treasure.

A peaceful oasis in the heart of the beautiful Alentejo
This is a fabulous, clean and comfortable cottage set in beautiful, thoughtfully laid out grounds. It has just about everything you could want to enjoy a relaxing break. Mel & Neill were on hand to greet us on arrival with a much appreciated welcome pack, and it is very evident that the comfort of their guests is their top priority. They have managed to create a homely, peaceful and relaxing oasis in the heart of the beautiful Alentejo countryside. We will most definitely be back! Muito obrigado Mel & Neill

Peace, quiet and idilic
This is a gem of a find. A lovely villa, a wonderful pool and lots of peace and quiet. Excellent wifi, beautiful villa, English TV, what more could you want! If you wish to escape the hectic lifestyles we all seem to lead and enjoy blissful peace and quiet, then this is the ideal place for you. I would rather not let people know about this place and only did the review after making our booking for next year. The owners are really lovely and even supplied shopping for us when we arrived. I could drone on about how great this place is, but you won't believe me till you try it. Roll on next year!

Delightful cottage in the Portugese countryside
We had a lovely 10 days here, the cottage is set in the heart of the portugese countryside, not a house to be seen nearby. the grounds are lovely and very spacious, the kitchen well equipped, Wifi is excellent. It was a shame there is only air con in the bedrooms the living area needs it as well. The only problem we had was the double bed, it was very uncomfortable, old and lumpy and the bed linen was tired. The swimming pool was a good size and depth. It would benefit from a cover that could be drawn across at night so as to retain some of the heat built up during the day. Pool temperature did not go above 23 degrees. Great outdoor shower, and lots of different seating areas both in sun and shade. Superb outdoor BBQ, most evenings we cooked on it and watched the sun go down over the hills in the distance. The nearby village of Ourique has a supermarket which catered for everything we needed , excellent fresh meat and fish , and there are some super restaurants within a 10 min drive. Ideal place for peace and quiet and relazation.

Thank you for your review I am glad you enjoyed your stay. The cottage has shutters on every window so they can be closed and are designed to keep the house cool, we leave it up to the guests to open and shut them in whatever way they please, a lot of portuguese houses do not have airconditiong at all becuse the houses are bulit for the hot summers. As I am writing this the pool tempreture is 28 degrees and of course depends on the weather outside , the pool is very large and takes a while to heat up The area around the pool is so beautiful and to have a pool cover would spoil the look and we llike our guests to have to do as little as possible and taking the cover off takes work! I am glad you mentioned the bed as previous guests have not and it is important for me that I keep the high standards up and so we are going to replace with imediate affect for our future guests, I appreciate your honest review, it gives me an insight of how I can improve on things I will continue to moniter the points you have made and if needed I will follow it up Melanie

Tranquil, Relaxing & Beautiful
This lovely cottage is set in beautiful landscaped gardens with a large pool. The sunsets at night are amazing and the cottage itself is very clean, comfortable and homely. We stayed there in June for three weeks and had an amazing holiday, Mel and Neill are such lovely people who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect in every way and were always available to help with anything we needed e.g we had a problem with our car which they helped us resolve. They left a lovely welcome pack for us, regularly cleaned the pool and ensured everything was perfect for us. The location of the cottage is brilliant to explore all areas of Portugal and provided a quiet relaxing back drop after a busy day out. Cannot fault it and would definitely go back. Entspannung pur
Wir haben traumhafte 6 Wochen im Haus von Neill und Mel verbracht. Schon der Empfang war sehr herzlich und wir bekamen einen Korb mit Leckereien, da muss man für den ersten Abend gar nicht einkaufen. Der Garten ist riesig und eingezäunt, so dass die Hunde freien Auslauf hatten. Das Haus liegt an der Schnellstrasse, nach hinten versetzt. Je nach Wind ist der Verkehr mehr oder weniger zu hören, aber man gewöhnt sich daran. Bei Problemen und Fragen sind die Vermieter jederzeit erreichbar! Den Pool und Whirlpool haben wir nicht benutzt, es war noch zu kalt(nachts). Doch beides wird wöchentlich gereinigt. Im Winter sind die Nächte noch sehr kalt, darum muss mit Holz gefeuert werden, das man beim Nachbar kaufen kann. Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind innerhalb von 1-1,5 Stunden mit dem Auto erreichbar. Einkaufen kann man in Ourique, mit dem Auto 7 Min zu fahren Ich wäre sehr gerne noch länger geblieben, habe mich ins Land verliebt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Erholsamer Urlaub in einem schönen Anwesen
Das Ferienhaus für sich genommen entspricht dem, was man auf den Bildern sehen kann. Das Grundstück ist sehr groß und der Pool ist groß genug, um wirklich darin zu schwimmen. Das Haus liegt in der Nähe der IC1, einer Schnellstraße. Es liegt aber in einer Senke, so dass die Geräusche von der Straße uns zu keinem Zeitpunkt gestört haben. Ich würde die Lage daher als ruhig bezeichnen. Die Umgebung hat in einem Umkreis von 1 Stunde Autofahrt durchaus einiges zu bieten, sofern man kein Partyleben erwartet. Die touristische Infrastruktur ist - abgesehen von der Atlantikküste und natürlich der Algarve - überschaubar bis gar nicht vorhanden. Einkaufen kann man in Ourique, Restaurants mit portugiesischer Küche gibt es einige im näheren Umkreis. Es wird eine einfache Küche geboten. Meist sind es Fleischgerichte, wobei das Fleisch aus der näheren Umgebung stammt, sehr hochwertig ist und sorgfältig zubereitet (meist gegrillt) wird. Die Beilagen fallen demgegenüber deutlich ab. Die Vermieter stammen aus England, sind ausgesprochen freundlich und haben uns mit einer liebevoll zusammengestellten Erstausstattung für Abendessen und Frühstück überrascht. Wir werden wieder kommen.

Rust Ruimte & Comfort
Een aanrader als je houdt van rust, ruimte en comfort. wij hadden twee heerlijke weken in deze onontdekte streek van Portugal. Het huis is prima en het zwembad en de jacuzzi zijn heerlijk. Bovendien een enorme ruimte om het huis met veel verschillende terrassen en zitjes. Mel en Neill zijn bijzonder vriendelijke en attente eigenaren die goed communiceren..

Prachtige locatie
Bij het aanrijden van de accommodatie viel er gelijk een rust over ons. Wat een ruimte! Wat een geweldige plek! En wat een rust! Onze hond een Berner sennenhond, was ook gelijk thuis. Kon nergens het terrein af dus ook voor hem een geweldige plek. Neil en Mell zijn geweldige gastheer en gastvrouw. Konden overal en altijd een beroep op ze doen. Zeer behulpzaam.

Very nice house and very nice people
It is a very nice well equipped house with a big garden with lots of privacy. The landlords are really nice and helpful people, they even bought us welcome groceries!

Entspannung pur! Top Ferienhaus in ruhige Lage!
Wir sind warm und herzlich in Empfang genommen worden. Sogar für ein Super-Willkommenskorb wurde gesorgt und hat den Aufenthalt abgerundet. Wir haben die Ferienwoche mit vollen Zügen genossen und konnten uns super entspannen. Das Haus bietet allen Komfort und wir waren völlig Autark. Herzlichen Dank an Mel und Neill!! Winterurlaub im Alentejo,sehr schön,beruhigend,erholsam
Wir waren den Februar 2020 im Haus von `Nel und Mel`. Uns hat es dort sehr gefallen und wir waren mit Haus und Grundstück mehr als zufrieden. Das Haus ist sehr großzügig, hat einen tollen Raumschnitt und die riesige überdachte Terrasse mit Sprudelbad ist einfach eine Wucht. Sie ist Sommer wie Winter Garant dafür, den Urlaub komplett im Freien verleben zu können. Der Pool ist im Sommer sicher das Heileiht und ersetzt den weit entfernten Algarvestrand zu 98%.Dazu trägt sicher auch das sehr große Gundstück bei, das komplett von einem stabielen Weidezaun eingefriedet ist. Unser Hund freute sich ebenso ein solch großes Gelände bewachen zu können. So mussten wir Ihn auch nicht zu jedem Ausflug mitnehmen und er war bestens aufgehoben. Ich konnte auch super meinem Hobby Bogenschiessen auf dem Grundstück nachgehen. 75 Meter waren gar kein Problem. Also für Urlauber die den ländlichen Scharm des Alentejo mögen ist das Hier eine richtig tolle Unterkunft. Wir können es durchaus empfehlen und uns auch vorstellen wieder dort Urlaub zu machen. My wife and I have rented many cottages and Villas throughout Portugal over the years in various locations. To be honest we never expected that this cottage would be any different from those previously experienced. We were totally wrong!, In the end this rental positively exceeded our expectations in many ways and is to date the best we have ever experience in relation to those properties previously rented . This is hard to top. Peace, tranquility, relaxation, privacy and above all, the cottage itself with its amenities. The swimming pool is great, not only with its size but the cleanliness. All aspects of this rental are clean and in good condition, nothing is missing. Value for money. Our hosts Mel and Neiil were absolutely great and were at hand on our late arrival to the cottage. At their own expense they provided us with the start up food essentials until we ourselves had time to go to the supermarket next day. This was totally unexpected as we were not accustomed to such thought. More of a warm welcome one could not hope for or expect and this welcome brought us straight into the holiday feeling that one wishes and hopes for after a long journey. Importantly Mel and Neiil gave us our privacy, we were always warned when the pool cleaner would come and at what time. Therefore we always new when to wear something or when we were safe to run around naked as a Jay bird! If you enjoy nature than this is the place to be and one must be prepared to make the effort oneself to explore the area and experience local culture. A car is a must for the longer journeys however from the cottage the nature walks are endless. Restaurants and other amenities are only a short drive away. The lakes are well worth the visit. In one way we did not want to submit this report and would have preferred to keep this cottage a secret for future holidays for ourselves. Impossible as it is on the Internet!! Without hesitation we would recommend this cottage to those looking for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. Thank you Mel and Neill for allowing us to stay at your cottage we had a great time and for the warm welcome and generosity shown by yourselves. Wow ! what an overwhelming feeling from reading your review! of course we are over the moon , but what impresses me the most Michael is the fact that you have taken your time to write this as I know from meeting you two lovely people that you are so hard working and busy with your work that you have done this for us I! I must say I am so glad you had a lovely holiday and feel very privileged to have met you and we contributed to your well deserved rest .I am so pleased the cottage gave you peace and relaxation and refreshed you. Un séjour des plus agréables !
Neill et Mel sont des hôtes charmants et la propriété est magnifique et très confortable. Neill et Mel avaient fait des courses pour nous permettre de diner le soir de notre arrivée... Grande piscine, grand terrain et cerise sur le gâteau, un temps magnifique pendant notre séjour. Bref, que du bonheur ! Location fortement recommandée Marie, Marie et Didier

Endroit parfait pour vacances reposantes! Maison fantastique
nous avons passé d'excellentes vacances dans cette maison très confortable et très bien équipée. Les propriétaires sont charmants et nous ont réservé un accueil des plus chaleureux. Le lieu est parfait pour des vacances très reposantes et pour ceux qui sont tentés par l'ambiance festive de l'Algarve, la côte est à moins d'1heure. Nous recommandons vivement cet endroit.
