Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Onjong?
The best areas to stay in Onjong are around Mallipo Beach and Cheongpo Beach, which are the main coastal areas offering visitor amenities.

Mallipo Beach is the more developed of the two, known for its long, sandy shoreline and a variety of seafood restaurants and cafes lining the beachfront road. It's a popular spot for watching the sunset over the West Sea. Hotels and guesthouses here often have direct beach access or are just a short walk away.

For families, Mallipo Beach is an excellent choice due to its gentle slopes and calm waters, making it suitable for children. There are also facilities for renting beach equipment and plenty of food options to suit all tastes, creating a convenient and enjoyable beach holiday for everyone.

Cheongpo Beach offers a slightly more secluded and quieter experience compared to Mallipo. It's characterised by its clear waters and pine forests that back the beach, providing a natural setting. While there are fewer large hotels, you'll find charming pensions and guesthouses here, often with a more personal touch.

Couples seeking a peaceful getaway will appreciate Cheongpo Beach. The natural beauty and the more relaxed pace make it ideal for romantic strolls along the shore or simply unwinding away from larger crowds.
When is the best time to go to Onjong?
The best time to visit Onjong is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months.

Spring in Onjong offers pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This is an excellent time for outdoor activities like hiking in the nearby mountains or exploring the coastal areas. The landscape is lush, and the weather is generally dry, making it comfortable for sightseeing. Couples and families will find these conditions ideal for enjoying nature and local attractions without the intense heat of summer.

Autumn also provides mild and agreeable weather, with temperatures similar to spring. The foliage changes to beautiful warm colours, particularly in the mountainous regions surrounding Onjong, creating picturesque scenery. This season is great for those who enjoy cooler temperatures and scenic drives.
