"Exceptional stay, friendly staff, and the perfect Basque Country base!This was my first time visiting the Basque Country, and it did not disappoint. I traveled here for the EPRC finals and to catch up with a friend I hadn’t seen in nearly twenty years.I chose Durango as my base because it is an easy 40-minute train ride into Bilbao. The hotel itself is ideally located—just a 10-minute walk from the station and close to local shops, restaurants, and beautiful historic buildings. Having stayed at Silken hotels before, I had high expectations, and I wasn't disappointed. It is a beautiful property featuring a nice restaurant, an onsite spa, and a lovely garden area for outdoor dining.The hotel staff were super friendly and welcoming, even using my name after just a few days. The breakfast was good, and my room was large, spotlessly clean, and featured great air conditioning with multiple aspects. The bed was comfortable, so I slept very well. The bathroom also had a nice, powerful shower and decent-sized towels.I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return. While I suspect I was very lucky with the great weather during my trip, the hotel's excellent amenities make it a fantastic choice rain or shine."

"The property needs some maintenance. I understand by the ocean more maintenance is required. Our room said partial ocean view there was none. Only facing the other balcony in the opposite building. Curtains were stained the room had an awkward design the door to the balcony could not be open totally it hit the bed. "

"Clean but very dated. Our room had a small double bed which wasn’t really big enough for two. Breakfast had the usual selection of continental items. There were a couple of coach parties staying at the same time and they seemed to take priority over us. No parking available at the property as car park now appears to be used as an outside terrace instead which is a strange choice as parking would be more useful."
