Tucked away in the scenic 3,000-acre Gateway Mountain nature preserve, Fireside offers the perfect escape for families and friends looking to relax in the tranquility of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This cozy yet spacious home sits on 5.2 private acres, providing a peaceful retreat with modern comforts and nature all around. Whether you're soaking in the hot tub on the screened porch, unwinding by the wood-burning fireplace, or grilling under the stars, Fireside Retreat is the ultimate getaway.

Fireside Retreat accommodates up to six guests with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main level features an open-concept kitchen and living area with cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors, and a wood-burning fireplace for warmth and ambiance. Two bedrooms and a shared full bathroom are also on this level. Upstairs, the entire loft is a private master suite with a large closet and en-suite bathroom.

One of the highlights of this retreat is the large screened-in porch, designed for both relaxation and entertainment. This space includes a hot tub, a comfortable couch, a fire table, and a large TV, making it an ideal spot to unwind while taking in the peaceful natural surroundings.

For those who enjoy outdoor cooking, the property is equipped with a smoker, a gas grill, and a charcoal grill. The community of Gateway Mountain also offers access to Lake George, where guests can swim, canoe, and enjoy catch-and-release fishing, as well as a private waterfall park.

Guests have full access to the home and its 5.2 private acres. This includes the screened-in porch with a hot tub, fire table, and outdoor TV, as well as the outdoor fire pit, full kitchen, and living area. Within the community, guests can visit Lake George and Standing Rock Waterfall Park for additional outdoor activities. Parking is available on-site, and the home is easily accessible by car.

Dogs under 50 pounds are welcome with a $50 pet fee per stay. Please notify us in advance if you plan to bring a pet.

New, faster WiFi is provided, allowing for streaming and remote work, but cell service may be limited in the mountains.

Charcoal and wood pellets for the smoker are not provided, so guests should plan to bring their own, as well as firewood for the outdoor fire pit.

Fireside Retreat is located in Old Fort, North Carolina, a historic mountain town known for its outdoor beauty and small-town charm. Nearby attractions include Catawba Falls, a breathtaking multi-tiered waterfall accessible by a scenic hike, and Point Lookout Trail, a paved 3.6-mile route offering stunning views of the Royal Gorge. The Old Fort Train Depot Museum and Mountain Gateway Museum provide a glimpse into the region’s rich history, while Andrews Geyser offers a unique sight with its 80-foot water display.

For dining and drinks, Deb’s Diner is a great spot for a classic Southern breakfast, and Hillman Beer is a local favorite for craft brews and casual dining. Old Fort also features artisan shops, historic sites, and scenic drives, making it a wonderful place to explore during your stay.

Wonderful getaway

The home is absolutely beautiful, but the town is even better! If you are looking for a weekend getaway this is your place to stay! Surrounded by nature and beautiful views in a small town that needs our support and visits more than ever to help after the hurricane! Definitely plan on visiting again!
