Quiet, spaceous room which was very clean. The pub served delicious food and there is a fabulous little cafe next door. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back when visiting family again. Exceptional value for money with a good breakfast included. Only slight niggle is that the pillows were thin and not supportive. One is not enough and two is too much. Perhaps they could invest in firmer support pillows and the score for this hidden gem would be 10/10.

This property was a great get away, the staff were all so friendly and helpful. They accommodated to my 2 large dogs and made my friend and I feel so welcomed. The food was delicious as well.

A perfect New year's Eve stay
Amazing stay at The George , staff very friendly from the moment we entered the door , we stayed for NYE in room 6 , huge Bathroom , lovely furnishings and nice comfy Bed , we had a meal and the sirloin steak was perfect, best I've tasted in a long time , the new year's entertainment was a great Band and all the locals and the staff where so friendly and made for a lovely atmosphere. The staff where very hard working and we had a lovely Full English Breakfast before leaving .. we'll worth a visit.

Staff were really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spacious and clean and had everything you could possibly need, bottles of water, biscuits and even hot chocolate were a nice touch. The breakfast was lovely and the evening meal we had one night in the restaurant was really good.

We didn't know about the festival when we booked, so we didn't get much sleep, but we'd stay again as it's v nice and the staff are lovely.

A great find

An hotel with no compromise
One of the few hotels I stay at that is rated excellent. Once there it's very easy to see why. The staff are friend and helpful, food is great as is the atmosphere and the rooms are extremely clean and very comfortable. An easy 5 stars

Wonderful, spacious room with 2 single beds. Staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was included, and was delicious! Had dinner there - fish and chips - it was a huge serving and very good! Wonderful, quiet area, friendly locals. Highly recommend this historic inn!

Lovely staff - nothing too much trouble. Good breakfast and evening meal. Compliments to the chef. Room 11 suffered from extremely noisy kitchen extractor fans. Room 12 suffered from lack of privacy as it’s very overlooked by adjoining properties. And on this occasion a screaming new born baby! Not the hotel’s fault and they very kindly agreed to a free upgrade to rooms 1 or 2 on our next visit.
