Very good value for money. A small, slightly outdated hotel but with spacious, fully equipped rooms. Good location within Berkeley too - not far from BART, plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Perfect if you’re planning to be out all day and only need a place to sleep.

It is an unusual location for a hotel, and we were really nervous walking through a cafe to check in... but the experience was wonderful - well done up rooms, great shower, ease of access to restaurants and a huge grocery store next door. We were having dinner at Chez Panisse and wanted somewhere close by. We lucked out with great parking not too far away - oh and that cafe I mentioned... we got a free drink the next morning as a perk! It was a perfect stay :)

Great people, really helpful. Clean rooms, simple. The only unfortunate issue was parking. They have none. And since it's Berkeley there are many many rules and parking cops!. Since there is residential a couple of blocks away, there are spots to find. Oh, and great coffee!

Excellent room in Gourmet Gulch. Great food all around. Very helpful staff. We like this quirky but clean and efficient little hotel.

I wa happy with the room. Clean, sapcios and with the necessary amenities. I was unhappy with the fact that this property has NO parking. You need to park on the street and because it is a busy area it was hard to find parking.

One might call this place quirky or funky. The first tip-off is the entry to the hotel which is oddly through a cafe, then leads one to a desk stuffed into a corner behind plexi-glass, most likely a leftover from the pandemic. The rooms are clean-ish but the surfaces are worn, especially the carpets which could really use an update or shampooing. I think if cost is your main concern, you will have to forgive the lack of polish but you would benefit from the central location. Outside the hotel, I noticed each morning a coffee klatch of locals that meets there regularly and support the cafe. It gave it a friendly vibe, and like any favorite haunt, I'm sure there many who are happy with it, just the way it is.

Words that come to mind, quaint, comfy, quiet. Not a large chain hotel but a small friendly one. Will use again if in the area. When I woke up after a good nights sleep I kept thinking I was at home, doesn't happen to me very often at hotels.
