We enjoyed hiking at the nearby state park, the local indoor pool (since it was unseasonably cool), the fire pit, and the hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking for a large group. The Lazy Bear Lodge in Oakland, MD was an awesome summer family vacation destination. Not to far of a drive to the lake and all attractions. Great communication with the property manger which made the trip even more fun and relaxing. Everything was clean and ready when we arrived. The owners responded to questions quickly, It’s very secluded the way it is built into the hill. The back deck area is a great way to enjoy the peace and quiet. It’s very close to the Swallow Falls trails and the wisp resort. We would stay here again. ##### Jason M. All of us had a wonderful time. The young ones didn't want to leave!! The house is very spacious and well equipped with everything we needed. The owner answered all of our questions promptly. The basement was a great place for the kids to hang out and give the adults some quiet time. The hot tub and outdoor fireplace were perfect for snow gazing. The property owners are very responsive. They have so many wonderful extras and the kitchen is fully stocked for any chef (I loved the crock pots)! The fireplaces are awesome (we were gone so much didn't have time to use them) and we loved the hot tub after long days of skiing. It is a great size for a big group. Seriously, the pictures of this house are only a fragment of the incredible experience you will have staying here. The location is perfectly secluded, quiet and comfortable. The owner does a wonderful job making sure your party has everything they'll need. From the fully stocked kitchen (everything but food) to the mountain of free firewood you'll have access to. Oh, and the Sonos sound system?? Amazing! We had a WONDERFUL weekend visit right before Christmas. When you book, the owner will provide you with an email containing all the info you'll need to know about the house, nearby attractions and conveniences- read it multiple times!. WISP resort is a short drive away <15mins. If you book, take advantage of the complementary State Park parking pass, it's extremely useful for nature lovers and those looking to get in some serious cardio or waterfall views. The house is stocked with just about everything needed for a relaxing trip away. The design finishes are well done and the furniture is comfy. The trail in the back is peaceful, but make sure to take advantage of the firepit. Check-in was easy and the owner was super responsive with questions. There are large indoor and outdoor spaces for when we were all together. There are also so many quiet spots for tv watching, games, hot tub relaxing, fireside chats, reading, napping and snacking. The decor is sort of luxury rustic lodge, but don't let that fool you. This home has every luxury and technological upgrade to make this a very comfortable place. WiFi, heated floors, Sonos sound system, gas grill, huge expanse of granite countertop, 3 fire places and more and more.
