Gorgeous
The 4 of us had an amazing week for February half term. The lodge was really comfortable like being at home. We cooked we chilled and the kids had a great time trying to catch some fish. The manager came and said hello on our first day which was a lovely touch. We will be back

Short Break For Half Term
From the moment we arrived we knew we had made the right choice. The lodge was very well furnished, with all facilities required and very clean and tidy. Some lovely treats were laid out for our arrival including something for our dog! We met Tina as she was finishing off preparing the lodges and she was so helpful and provided lots of good ideas for us to explore. Within an hour of arriving our sons were straight onto the paddle boards and exploring the water ways. We found the location perfect for what we were looking for which was a relaxing break and being able to explore the area around us. We will be back

Don’t go for the fishing
Lovely, clean lodge, plenty of space and comfortable. Very peaceful.
Kitchen is well equipped but one thing we missed was an oven dish.
If you’re planning on fishing from the garden… it’s not worth it. Very few fish and all small, other families from neighbouring lodges also commented on this.
Food at the White Heron pub at the entrance to the marina was nice and the staff were lovely.
Had takeaways from the Bay Leaf Indian and New World Chinese, both were very good.
Would book again but also hire a boat to be able to move along the river to better fishing locations.

Definitely a chill out zone
Well equipped lodge in a peaceful location. Definitely somewhere to relax and watch the boats go by and appreciate the wildlife. Many thanks to Tina for all her help much appreciated.
A couple of minor improvements ...somewhere in the shower to put shampoo shower gel etc and a stool to sit on in front of the mirror in the bedroom to use when drying hair etc. Otherwise highly recommended.

Nice upgrade, great spot
This was our second stay at River Retreat and we were very impressed with the upgrade to the accommodation. The kitchen is now fit for purpose (although could use some extra plates etc) and everything worked very well. The lodge was spotlessly clean although there was a minor ant issue which we were informed of on arrival and was being dealt with, sometimes these things happen!
You can’t beat it as a quiet spot to relax and do a bit of fishing. The White Heron pub has also had a makeover which has helped and having the train station direct into Norwich and Yarmouth a few hundred metres away is great on any less pleasant weather days. Beaches and theme parks are but a short journey in the car. Local chippy is good.
It has definitely gone up in price since our last visit but is still good value and I’m sure we’ll be back.

Our happy place!
Another fantastic stay at River Retreat. We stayed last year just as NHL took over and what a transformation! The lodge has now had a refurb and is amazing. It looks, feels and smells loved. Everything is brand new.
We decided to have a last minute get away and wanted to go back to Brundall as it has become like a second home to us. Booking was very easy and quick.
Having the river at the end of the garden is perfect, we were fishing most of the day, watching the boats go by, wildlife, ducks, swans herons etc.we even had a daily visit from a robin.
Its so peaceful and quiet.
Tina, the manager, is amazing, calling round to make sure everything was ok and if we needed anything. The whole team have worked so hard to bring the lodges back to life.
The coffee, tea and biscuits on arrival was just what we needed after a long journey.
We have everything we need at Brundall, chippy, pubs, chinese takeaway, pizza place, chemist, 2 coops, a hardware shop that sells anything you will ever need.
Also, we noticed you can now hire day boats and paddleboardsfrom a little shed near the pub called the cut. We may try them out next summer.
We didnt want to leave but will be back at Nature's nook very soon.
Thank you so much Tina for the personal touch and always been available.

Wonderful stay at River Retreat
A wonderful week staying at River Retreat, accomodation was excellent and the location fabulous! Being able to launch kayaks and paddle boards direct from the garden was brilliant, and we all enjoyed watching the wildlife and the boats on the river. Would happily stay again and recommend to others.

A week on the Norfolk Broads
A lovely relaxing holiday. The lodge had everything we needed for a comfortable week. Cleanliness was excellent. It was lovely to sit out next to the water and watch the boats, canoes and paddle boards go by.
We visited Wroxham several times but didn’t feel the need to go anywhere else. As the weather was so hot we stayed around the lodge.
The Co-op shops (there are 2!) in the village were good with lots of food choices. We also visited the local pub next to the railway station and had a good meal there.
Tina and her team quickly answered any questions prior to arriving and also during the week. We were even given a bottle of fizz as it was our anniversary while we were there.
Nothing was too much trouble and we hope to visit again next year.
The property is located on the marina and was well appointed and very clean. Apart from what seems to be an overlook with a rusty radiator in the small toilet all other fittings etc were new from a refurbishment. Cleaning and washing up materials were provided and also left Easter eggs and daffodils which was a nice touch. We were using Brundall as a base for the rest of the Norfolk Broads and we found it a good location to reach a good variety of tourist attractions. It was a very quiet marina (apart from the dawn chorus which was lovely to wake up to) and we enjoyed our weekend.

Another fantastic holiday
Absolutely fantastic Lodge. We have stayed at River retreat three times and stayed with Norfolk holiday lodges six times with two more booked. The lodges are always spotlessly clean both inside and out. It's home from home. (Don't want to go home)
We had a lovely welcome from Tina, the manager. She always goes above and beyond looking after the lodges and guests.
The lodges are all waterside, with plenty of wildlife, ducks, swans, herons, grebes etc. You can sit from the decking fishing, with boats passing by. It is so relaxing and peaceful. We hired a day boat for a week this holiday, from Bishy Barney Boats, a few miles up river and were able to moor from the decking. We explored the broads and went fishing further down the river. We used the chinese takeaway a couple of times. Fish and chips from Blofield are gorgeous. Our stay was just what we needed, relaxing and stress free. Already on count down to our next stay.A little piece of heaven.

Another great stay at River Retreat
This is our second stay at River Retreat and we have had another lovely week. Since last year the property has been renovated and it has been done out really nicely with a new kitchen, large TV and furniture throughout. The location is great and it is so relaxing sitting by the river watching the wildlife and boats go by. We have our own boat moored in Brundall so it has been nice being able to have it at the property throughout the week we were there. We will definitely be back.
The property is well equipped and very comfortable. Good parking at the lodge. Good for fishing. Brundall centre is not far away and there are two Co-ops with all the essentials you may need, an Indian restaurant (which we can recommend), a Chinese take away, Pizza takeaway, the Ram Inn pub in the village and The White Heron pub and East Hills Deli cafe which is close to the property. The train station is in walking distance for access in to Norwich or Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
Communication with Norfolk Holiday Lodges was very good.
Make sure you take some duck and swan food so you can feed all the feathery visitors on the river! (you can buy some in the hardware shop in the village).
