Excellent Stay during honeymoon.

Posted 17-Aug-2016
We stayed 3 nights on our honeymoon. When we arrived our room had been upgraded and complimentary champagne and chocolates were provided. The staff were all very helpful and made our stay feel special. Thank you to all the hotel staff, we look forward to returning in the future.

Amazing stay.

The Royal York Hotel was extremely beautiful. As soon as you walk into the lobby you are greeted with such well mannered and well dressed staff. The lobby is decorated so beautiful which follows through-out the entire hotel including the bar and the rooms. I ordered a 'Superior Double' for my boyfriends birthday as he had always wanted to come to York. The room was extremely spacious and was decorated lovely. The bathroom was large and continued with the same style from the room. The bed was extremely comfy along with the pillows and the duvet, and we was left with a tv infront of the bed and little snacks of chocolate and crisps to go with out water, tea and coffee. The only downfall to the room was I was quite disappointed due to how much I spent on the room that it was two single beds pushed together leaving my partner and I quite seperate when going to bed, however I wouldn't hesitate in booking again and returning, including recommending. The hotel is out of this world.

Good area to stay in.

Posted 07-Aug-2016
Pros: Location good.
Cons: At least a set of side drawers and better wardrobe space.
Very opulent Hotel. Bit disappointed with the size of our room and the fact that there were no drawers to put anything in. Wardrobe was a space about 4" wide very strange and not cheap! Our room was at the station side and very noisy in the morning. Hotel stated wifi available all areas not on our floor. We also had a problem with the shower seal and advised reception staff but no one came near to investigate what the problem was. Also be aware £5 per day is charged if you park you car in Hotel.

Grand Hotel next to the Station

Posted 26-Jul-2016
Pros: It's position, a very short walk into York, next to the station, ideal if arriving by train. Plenty of parking and the lovely grounds and garden.
Cons: air conditioning would be a definite advantage.
Location: Location very good, very near to the railway museum, station and only a short walk into York
A very welcoming reception, staff were excellent and so friendly we had gone to the Hotel for my birthday and my husband mentioned this to Vanessa our check in lady. We were given our room key and went to the room, within five minutes there was a knock on the door, one of the staff were there with a bottle of presecco in an ice bucket and two glasses with a card for me wishing me a happy birthday and a pleasant stay. We had a meal in the Refectory restaurant on the evening of my birthday where I was presented with a complimentary plate of cakes with happy birthday piped in chocolate round the rim of the plate. Such a lovely surprise, all the staff were lovely.

ex railway co luxury hotel adjoining the station

Enjoyable stay in beautiful surroundings with friendly, helpful staff. Our superior room lacked air conditioning and had very limited wardrobe / closet space.
