Beautiful Hotel close to the City

Posted 29-Apr-2016
Pros: It was full of character and very close to the City Centre
Cons: Breakfast was chaotic
Our first room was large and well appointed - sadly it was VERY close to the main railway station and the vibration caused by the passing trains was horrendous. The bathroom was beautiful but the water temperature fluctuated between extremes making showering an unpleasant experience. Our concerns though were dealt with swiftly and we were "upgraded" to a tiny room on the third floor.

Adjacent to the station and 10 minute walk to town

Posted 24-Apr-2016
Pros: Everything, attention to detail, great service, friendly and helpful staff.
Location: Next to the railway station, 10 minute walk to town.
Weekend stay for a birthday celebration. Hotel had just been refurbished and was splendid. Clean, bright interiors, friendly, approachable staff, and I cannot thank the concierge staff enough, so friendly and helpful. I had booked deluxe bedrooms and it was well worth the extra cost. Hoping to go back soon. Have already recommended to some friends, and hope to arrange a meet up there soon.

Beautiful Hotel

Posted 21-Apr-2016
Pros: The style and decor
Cons: Free parking for residents
Location: Great location right by the train station and about 5 minutes walk to the Minster and town.
Really enjoyed our stay at the Royal. The afternoon tea is an absolute must and the cocktails weren't bad either ! Didn't use the spa facilities but the staff there were really friendly and helpful. Loved it, would definitely go again.

Beautiful lobby and restaurant

Posted 17-Apr-2016
Even though this hotel was amazing beautiful inside, it lacked the finer details in the hotel room. I stayed in the executive suite but they only had soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I would have expected the following: Bath liquids, shower cap, face towels, a sign at the door to say 'do not disturb', it just lack those finer details but otherwise it was lovely.

Wonderful pictures

Posted 03-Apr-2016
Pros: Pictures on their website
Location: Location is very near the City for lots to see and do. Visit the tourist information to buy a pass if your seeing lots. It will save some money.
Pictures of hotel great. Annex where we were shoehorned into good for conference delegates but not for that special weeks break. Long way away from hotel facilities not making the experience a spec I also one. Disappointing.Look out for the extra £5:00 per night parking fee.

Great location

Posted 28-Mar-2016
Pros: Other than the stairs everything was fine.
Cons: The stairs!!
Great location for sightseeing and for the Train Station. Only problem were the stairs you had to climb from the parking lot to the reception check in desk.

Excellent stay

Posted 07-Mar-2016
Pros: Everything, the whole ambiance was superb. Pity we didn't get chance to use the pool but the afternoon tea more than made up for it.
Cons: One minor niggle, lighting in the room for make up could be better, but not a problem.
Location: Location brilliant. Five minute walk to Minster, sites and shopping. Beautiful grounds. Considering its proximity to the rail station it was v/quiet.
The whole stay from check in to check out was excellent. Upgrade to a junior suite was an added bonus and was beautiful. Food, staff and location was excellent. Will definately be returning when we visit York again.

W had a very good night stay but a little disappointed that as guests we had to pay for parking glad we were only there 1 night or could have been quite expensive. But did enjoy our stay
