Thank you for your review for your one night you did stay with us. We did have our floors redone which might have been the smell but the smell is not a bad one so we are not sure what smell you experienced. We are sorry if you did see any bugs. We have had an exterminator in there regularly and feel pretty confident that we have killed most of them. We do try our best to create a bug free environment but even with the regular visits by an exterminator we cannot kill them all but we do stay on top of this. We do supply the trash bag for your stay overnight. We are not sure what else you needed regarding trash bags. We are not sure what you needed for cleaning supplies as we try and clean the place so that you don't have to do any cleaning. Please let us know what cleaning supplies you were needing for the evening. Thank you for your review as my wife and I read all of them and really do try our best to provide improvements where we can. We hate all bugs and employ an exterminating company that we regularly send there when a guest sees a bug. We just recently sprayed because a guest saw 2 bugs and I called the company and they came out and treated our property inside and out. My wife and I try our best to be fully transparent on the website as well letting everyone know before renting our cottage that if you don't like any type of pests then renting our home is not an option because we cannot guarantee a bug free environment. We go through long stretches of no issues with any bugs and then we have short spurts of them appearing and us aggressively treating. We are sorry that you had to experience any bugs but it is impossible to have every bug killed for every day of the year. We replace the outside grill about every 2 to 3 years. We do not clean after each guest grills and have never been asked about doing this in the past. Usually I had thought that when a guest puts their new charcoal into the grill they would dump out the old charcoal left by the prior guest and once the coals were lit would scrub the grates and allow the fire to burn off the residue left by the last guest. I am not sure what else to do as it is hard to clean it when it is cold verses when the flames are heating them up. I apologize that this was not satisfactory. The outside picnic table does sit under the trees there and it is fall and the leaves and debris are all coming down. When I personally cut the grass I try to blow everything off with my blower but it does get covered pretty quickly from the overhanging trees there. I am not sure what else we can do to keep it clean unless we had a roof over the table to prevent all the debris from the trees from falling on it. I do apologize about the front window. We had a recent guest a month ago that was having a party over a one night stand and one of their guests broke the window. I boarded it up so that the remaining glass would not be a hazard to our guests. I ordered new windows which take time to receive and I am in the waiting mode now to have them installed. I do sincerely apologize that I did not note this in your welcome email as I had been doing it in all the previous guests. That was a total oversight on my part and I apologize for not letting you know this so you were not surprised by the wood over the broken window when you arrived. The guest had the accident and we are doing all we can to remedy the problem. I do appreciate your comments and I hope this helps some. I am sorry your experience was embarrassing to you as we want our guests to have the best experiences as possible. Most have excellent experiences and yet I know sometimes we miss the mark as you noted for which I am sorry for. I have shared this with our daughter who does all the cleaning so she is aware that it was dusty under the beds. She noted that she does swiffer the floors and was sorry if there was dust that she missed. Thank you for such a great review. You bring up great points and some we can do nothing about. Living on the main beach road does have its benefit of walking to the beach easily but it is also the disadvantage of being the one road for beach traffic. We have always had comments that sometimes traffic noise is louder in the front bedroom downstairs. I did recently buy a new window when to install for that room which I am waiting on the installer to come by that I am hoping helps cut down on the noise but it can only do so much. I apologize that you had that traffic noise and besides putting in a more updated window to try and cut some of the sound out I am not sure what else I can do to help. :) You are also correct that we do have the beach burrs in the front yard. I cut the grass and they attach to my shoe laces at times. I never thought about them too much because I have always lived at the beach and grew up with them but I did think to myself that I should be advertising about them because so many others do not live there. I did add this to our front page to make people aware. Most don't play in the grass but for those that have pets this is important to know and I am thankful that you brought it up so that I could advertise them. I do put killers down in the yard to get rid of them but they seem to come back. You are correct about the bugs and it seems with the cold weather that has started to come back they are finding their way back into people's houses. We immediately after your review had our pest control company come out and spray based on you seeing them. We will continue to do all we can to fight and exterminate them and appreciate you pointing them out because I personally call the pest control people when our guests say they are back. Thanks for the info on the farmer's market as that was a really good point that they do tend to hold them regularly down the street from us. Thanks for pointing out all the things that you did as these help other guests make decisions on where to stay and we always want to be transparent and not mislead anyone into our property as property recognized by our home page of listing the good and the bad.
