The host was very welcoming and receptive. The house was very nice with an amazing view of Sunday River. We travelled with a group of 6 and the house was very comfortable, and had plenty of room. We especially loved the location of the house. It was an easy drive, and very close to Sunday River.
Very well restored home (from late 1700's) in a great location. Lots of room to spread out. Wonderful views. I suspect it would be even better in the summer and fall for a family. Easy winter drive to the Jordan or South Ridge; truly 5 minutes.
Beautiful stay at this lovely home overlooking the mountain. The photos are accurate and everything was comfortable. The kitchen could use a little updating as there weren’t great pots and pans etc. but we made do.
This charming farmhouse worked well for our family gathering. Views of Sunday River are great and super quick to get to the mountain. Our host was quick to respond to any questions.
Fantastic stay at this property - very cozy home moments away from the slopes. Visited with a group of 12 and we all fit in very nicely. With only two bathrooms for that many people, we had to be very disciplined with toilet times, but otherwise it worked out ok. Wonderful kitchen dining room, great for hosting large meals and playing board games.
Beautiful old farmhouse with an impressive array of antiques, lots of space, and a ton of character. Beds were very comfortable, and kitchen was modernized. The gas fireplace was really nice for hanging out in the living room! There are also a lot of board games and a ping pong table - always a good add. The host was very communicative and helpful!
This charming farmhouse is so close to the mountain and has plenty of space for people to spread out. The pictures and descriptions are accurate, so there will be no surprises.
I can’t say enough about how great Julie was to communicate with about our stay. I had so many questions about the booking process and she was always standing by to assist. Lovely property and even better host!

Great Ski House with Unbelievable Views
The house was huge with tons of bedrooms and places to hang out together as a group. The large dining room table was a great addition. The best part of the house was the view of the mountain, we watched the New Year’s Eve fireworks from the front porch.
Fabulous, as if we rented our own estate for the weekend! , best views around, we felt as if we were still at the mountain even though we were actually enjoying the view from the Mountain House! A cozy fire, plenty of room and lots of wildlife, just a gorgeous ski weekend. If there's an opening next year, we will be back!

BEYOND AMAZING!!!!
If you are looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in the woods of Maine then this is it! The property is beyond anything I have ever seen. Every inch of the property is beautiful! From the Countertops to the fireplace! It is just perfect!
This house has an excellent location minutes from the slopes. The home had ample space for 6 adults. Comfortable beds and plenty of room to spread out. Central kitchen for dining & entertainment. Gas fireplace kept us toasty! Ping pong table was a plus . Julie the owner was accessible and very helpful on a few of our needs. Great place for a winter getaway!
My husband and I are not from New England so this getaway was the complete opposite of what we’re use to coming from Georgia. Our stay at Mountain House was so relaxing, quiet and enjoyable. The fact that we didn’t even have to leave the property to enjoy views we’ve only seen online or in magazines was amazing. The property was clean and well maintained, any questions I had the owner answered right away. We will definitely be back to enjoy the breathtaking views of Sunday River right from the front window.
The property has an extraordinary view of Sunday River. We watched the Christmas Eve fireworks from the front porch! The location is also great - less than 5 minutes to the parking area in Southridge Lodge. There is plenty of room for large groups to spread out with a den/study, living room, large dining room as well as TV room with nice gas log fireplace. The Ping Pong table was a big hit. Vintage farmhouse with lots of charm. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
What a wonderful home for a family ski long weekend! Julie was fabulous to work with and answered all of my questions quickly! The house was so spacious and it had everything we needed. We prepared meals with ease as the kitchen was fully equipped and had had plenty of seating for meals. The bedrooms were spacious and and beds so comfortable. The rec room they offer is equipped with a ping pong table and plenty books and games for kids! The gas fireplace was so wonderful after a long day of skiing. The views from this rental are spectacular and the location to Sunday River only a 3 minute drive. We didn’t want the weekend to end! Thank you Julie and Frank. We will be back!!!
We really enjoyed our 5 nights at the Mountain Home, and Julie and Frank really were a pleasure to meet and get to know! The home is historic, so you should expect some idiosyncrasies, but it is very enjoyable. The kitchen is well stocked with things you may need, and we cooked breakfast and dinners and the girls baked brownies. Frank set up a grill for us and we did steaks one evening.
There is a nice porch in the front with rocking chairs and this was our favorite hang-out spot in the evenings. They have an apple orchard in the back with string lights -- looks like a magical fairyland at night and a fun place to hang out!
We played a lot of ping-pong and watched a nice movie on the TV in the living room.
The only downside for us was that the wi-fi speed is very slow and I had trouble using my laptop for Teams meetings. The cell reception is pretty decent and we were able to work around by using mobile devices.
Finally, Julie and Frank are very wonderful, warm people. Julie was nice enough to do some laundry for our kids who had just come from summer camp with duffel bags full of dirty clothes! They are highly responsive and wonderful to spend time with -- in our short stay we really hit it off!
Our stay at the house was interrupted when a sump pump in the basement of the home caught on fire. We were awoken to a fire alarm in the middle of the night, and needed to get everyone out of the house immediately. The fire department came and put out the fire, but the house was left with a terrible (and unsafe) smell. The fire department stated that windows needed to stay open for 2 days. It was the middle of winter, and I did not want my kids breathing the toxic chemicals in the air from the fire (nor did I want to deal with open windows). As a result, we decided to end our vacation early, which was a real disappointment.
The home owner was reasonable at first, but clearly wanted us to complete our stay. She was in Florida, and didn't seem to understand the interruption that had occurred fully. I asked for a refund, and while she did refund me partially, she clearly did not understand our perspective, and instead did all she could do keep as much of her money as she could.
The house is fine. Not great, particularly the lack of bathroom space and no laundry, but in general you do get what you see, and the location is awesome. The owner was pleasant to deal with up until there was an issue. Once there was an issue, I thought she proved to be selfish and not very reasonable. I know she will refute this, which is fine, but it is honestly how I felt, so rent with caution. They clearly don't properly maintain this aging house, and if there is an issue, she won't deal with it as you woudl hope/expect.
This is a lovely home. We stayed for 3 nights. The location is wonderful. 5 mins from the lifts with a great view of the mountain. Plenty of space for a family group. Very clean and well maintained.
My friends & I stayed at this house for a ski weekend & it was perfect. The house was large enough for our group of 11, plenty of bedrooms, it was clean and conveniently located minutes from the mountain. The host, Julie, was very communicative as well. The only thing the house doesn’t have is laundry. We got stuck in a very rainy/wet ski day so drying our gear was necessary. The fireplace worked wonderfully & the grand summit hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes away so we were able to use their laundry services as well. Overall, a great experience & would definitely stay again!
Spacious property in a top tier location with an awesome owner
This property was only a couple minutes away from the mountain and had an awesome view of the slopes from the farmer's porch out front. There was plenty of room for the 12 of us to sleep comfortably and hang out. The owner is also highly communicative and was incredibly easy to work with which made the experience that much better. Highly recommend!
We had a great time at the property. Everything was just as it was in the pictures including the spectacular view of the mountains you wake up to. We could walk down to the Sunday River at the edge of the property or drive to several activities nearby. Our hosts were ever so helpful and answered our questions with utmost sincerity. Plus the location was so peaceful and serene. We had a lovely time and would love to come back. Thanks much
