  • A delightful and charming three bedroom detached period property set amid the historic Sherwood Forest. Formerly an inn many years ago, the cottage has a wealth of character with beamed ceilings, exposed wood, open fireplaces and a cottage garden making for a great place to have a holiday with lots to see and do in the area.

    Sleeping 6 in comfort The cottage nestles with the other houses in Wellow, set around the green and its famous maypole, which is still used each year.

    Having been fully refurbished to a high standard with all modern comforts, come and make the most of Nottinghamshire and all there is to do with an enjoyable break at your own pace, at White Horse Holiday Cottage in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire.

    The cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Wellow the Cottage is located on The Green, Eakring Road, Wellow, Newark, Notts. NG22 0EG.

    The holiday cottage was refurbished in 2010 providing excellent fully equipped self catering accommodation with all modern comforts, offering:

    A lounge with beams, exposed brick fireplace and log burner. Family room with a beamed ceiling and a roaring fireplace, a spacious kitchen and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen. A downstairs shower room and a sauna for relaxing. Upstairs are three bedrooms each sleeping two people in comfort, a luxury four piece bathroom suite with separate shower cubicle and roll top bath. Central heating throughout is included in the price.

    The cottage has its own gardens with a lawn, garden furniture, garage and secure storage for bicycles. There are two inns at the heart of the village green for relaxing and enjoying a local ale and food.

Nice cottage, excellent location, quick response from hosts when something was needed, however the property itself could be greatly improved e.g strong smell of oil in the garden and kitchen, and wear and tear of various items around the house including the travel cot and kitchen table.

Nice Stall had by all.

Thank you for the stay, The accommodation was prefect for our requirements. The rooms were a good size and we had all our needs for the stay within the house The location was nice and peaceful. To have the two local Public houses so close was useful for meal times.

Beautiful cottage

We booked this cottage for my wedding, groom, best man and groomsmen and the me and my wife the following night. The photos online dont do it justice! The cottage is really nice and in a lovely location, we had a nice meal in the local pub and some great photos for the wedding album i side and outside the cottage. We would highly recommend! The only people that may struggle are the infirm as the stairs are quite steep

Lovely cottage in a great location

The cottage is gorgeous and the village of Wellow is very pretty. Communication was very good. Everything went smoothly. There are 2 living rooms in the property but only 1 television which meant we never used the 2nd room which was much cosier. Also could do with a cafetière. There was only an espresso maker which only makes 2 cups of coffee so with 2 adults I had to make 2 lots every day. The sauna was a great bonus. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Weekend break

We had a wonderful weekend in a very nice house. Very comfortable and we all slept well. Only a couple of points for you to consider 1. We ate in but there was no salt or pepper, people usually assume they are available. The pots were empty. 2. You might warn future customers that the stairs are steep and narrow and may not be Sui for people with mobility issues

Unfortunate shower issues

Unfortunately the hot water didn't work - on the day we were going to our daughters wedding! They were good at fixing it. That meant we could have a shower the next day - but then the water leaked through the ceiling. There was good response to get things fixed - but the issues I am afraid reflect the 'tiredness' of the property. There was no offer to compensate for the quite considerable inconvenience.

A relaxing and quiet cottage with all the facilities we required.

The quirky characteristics of this cottage aid to the wonderful atmosphere it provides. The curved staircase, whilst steep, has some hand rails to provide support for safe use, although careful foot placement is a must. If anyone in your party has reduced mobility, I would recommend speaking to the owners prior to booking about the stairs. We did however have people with limited mobility in our group, who all managed the stairs without concern, with careful consideration for their routine re rail use, and foot placement. The quiet, calm and relaxing feeling the cottage and surroundings provided us exactly what we needed. We had everything we needed to cook for a family and found the washing machine extremely useful at one point in the week. The sauna, although really only large enough for 1 person at a time, was more than hot enough, and gratefully appreciated. Beds were all very comfy, the heating was more than adequate. All in all we enjoyed ourselves enough to say, we will definitely be back!

Das Cottage hat grossen Charme. Wir haben uns gleich sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Sauna haben wir nicht benutzt. Da können wir keine Aussage machen. Die Küche ist gut eingerichtet. Einzig in der Küche wurde nicht fertig geputzt. Das eingetrocknete Putzmittel auf dem Herd und das schmutzig Sieb im Geschirrspüler mussten wir selbst reinigen.

Schnuckeliges Häuschen in ruhiger Lage

Wir haben den Aufenthalt in dieser Unterkunft genossen. Das Haus hatte alles, was man brauchte: Waschmaschine, Spülmaschine, Herd. Zum Relexen gab es eine Sauna und Badewanne, die wir auch rege genutzt haben. Hinter dem Haus gab es eine schöne Wiese und weiter hinten noch eine Sitz/Grill-Ecke. Nur wussten wir nicht so recht, ob es dazu gehörte, denn hier wurde nicht sauber gemacht. Darum haben wir uns nicht getraut, uns bei schönem Wetter raus zu setzten. Man hat auch bemerkt, dass das Haus schon älter war. Eine steile Treppe oder der schiefe Boden in der obere Etage gehört zum Charakter des Hauses. Man muss nur Aufpassen, dass wenn man Nachts ins Bad muss, dass man sich nicht die Zehen an der Kante im Schlafzimmer stößt. Bei unserem Aufenthalt hat der Wäscheständer gefehlt, aber dies wurde dank der guten Kommunikation von den Hausverwaltern schnell ersetzt. Es gibt ein paar Punkte, die uns Aufgefallen sind, die man vielleicht optimieren könnte. Z. B. Sind in den Schubladen in den Wohnzimmern viel Krimskrams und teilweise kaputte Dinge verstaut. Auch fanden wir bei der Suche nach dem Wäscheständer in einem Kämmerchen Weihnachtsdekoration. Sowas sammelt sich natürlich in den Jahren an. Hier könnte man evtl. mal entrümpeln. Bei unser Ankunft war noch gespültes Geschirr zum trocknen auf der Spüle. Auch das hätte man im Vorfeld wegräumen können. Aber das sind Kleinigkeiten, die nicht ins Gewicht fallen. Es hat uns gut gefallen.

Lovely stay

The property was clean, very well equipped and full of character. The staircase is quite steep making me cringe a bit every time anyone used it whilst carrying the baby but with care and time it can be negotiated safely. We had lovely weather so utilised the bbq and garden most days/evenings. The TV room was lacking a bit of seating but we just moved some chairs from the other room so we could all sit together. A lovely house in a very central location-well liked by everyone who holidayed with us. All in all an excellent stay. perhaps not so easily with a
