The front entrance smelled like a porta potty. I raised this to the staff but they didn’t seem to smell it.

I enjoyed my two-night stay at the Hyatt Centric. My room was ready upon check-in and was in pristine condition. Staff was friendly and professional, the hotel was quiet, and I had a lovely view from my room. The hotel is centrally located and close to restaurants, stores, and public transportation; it is also one mile from attractions like Reading Terminal Market. One thing to note: the entrance to the hotel is on a side street, which I almost missed because I was not expecting it. This has nothing to do with the service of the hotel, but is something to be aware of (I walked to the hotel at nearly midnight and felt perfectly safe). Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a getaway to (or staycation in!) Philly.

The computer system went down when we were checking in. It took them 2 hours to get us a room and they gave other people who came after us rooms. I had to get angry to get a room. It took 5 minutes of running the water to get hot water. The bathroom door was hard to close. At brunch Saturday morning, the waffles and French toast were hard. However, the rooms were very clean and well appointed. The staff were generally very nice and helpful. Valet parking was great.

While the location of the hotel was great and all employees were friendly, small details throughout our stay make it difficult to want to return. Valet is $58 for overnight parking which felt pretty high but I guess that’s the price of not wanting to carry your suitcases from another parking garage. The jetted tub in our suite had an inoperable drain which was a huge let down because that was one of the reasons for staying here and paying extra for the suite. The mini fridge in the room was dirty, as well as the entertainment center that was holding it. Lastly, they charge a $28 amenity fee but give you 20 credits for the restaurant or mini bar so when we grabbed two candies and two sodas from the front desk we thought that would be covered and sure enough we had an extra charge on our card after our stay that I am now going to have to dispute. Overall, if I hadn’t paid close to $500 for the room I wouldn’t be writing this review but it was definitely not worth the money they charge.
