#### Take a guided tour of this museum to see many fascinating artefacts and learn about Finland’s history, from prehistoric times to the present day. 

The National Museum of Finland is a grand museum that aims to preserve Finland’s rich history through exhibits and educational events. Browse the museum’s permanent collection to see many interesting items, such as ancient coins, medals and decorations. The museum also features interactive exhibits for adults and children. 

Attend a museum event, including special guided tours with expert or group discussions. The museum is also near many Helsinki attractions, such as another museum dedicated to exhibiting contemporary Finnish art.

Discover Workshop Vintti on the third floor of the museum. Learn about Finland’s history of kings, queens, emperors and presidents in this interactive zone. Workshop Vintti focuses on learning through experimentation and personal experience. It is excellent for children and adults. Activities include building an early 20th-century brick and log house and harnessing a horse.

Observe many fascinating items in the National Museum of Finland’s permanent collection, such as frescoes by Swedish-speaking Finnish painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela and an elk-head soapstone sculpture dating to the Stone Age. The museum also displays many items relating to the development of Finnish culture from the 12th century to the early 20th century. 

The museum building is an exquisite structure reflecting Finland’s medieval castles and churches. This stunning building was competed in the early 20th century. It features national romantism-style architecture and art nouveau-style interiors. Notice the bear statue by Finnish sculptor Emil Wikström next to the museum’s entrance.

This outstanding museum also has a café where you can purchase coffee, light meals and pastries. Visit the museum shop for children’s toys, books, jewellery, souvenirs, posters, handicrafts and many more items. The museum is open year-round, Tuesday to Sunday, excluding public and religious holidays. Discounted admission fees apply for concession holders and groups of more than 10 guests.

With many rare artefacts and a whole floor dedicated to interactive learning, the National Museum of Finland is perfect for families.
