But for a flavour of ‘real’ Fiji, you don’t have to venture too far from the centre of town to discover sugar cane fields and neighbourhoods full of locals.

Exploring the Centre of Nadi

Nadi’s shop-lined Main Street is right at the heart of the action. Most stores on this stretch are dedicated to kitschy knick-knacks and duty-free goods, but there are authentic keepsakes to be found too, including wooden tanoas, drinking bowls made for knocking back the local drink of choice, kava. You can also head away from the centre of town to Nadi’s handicraft market, where you can hunt for local crafts and chat with the stallholders.
