"Peaceful solitude. I really enjoyed the quiet location and lush grounds. Our hosts were very warm, friendly, responsive and helpful. The unit was clean and functional. It has "the basics" for cooking but not much more. My wife gets a bit anxious being "out in the boonies" so she did not relax and enjoy it quite as much as I did. Our college student son survived two full days without wireless! The roaming signal was pretty good. Volcano NP Visitor Center is 40 minutes away and the nearest groceries are in Ocean View 18 minutes away. The only complaint, and not enough to knock off a full star, was that the bed leaves something to be desired. It is listed as queen, but I have my doubts. Maybe it's just a queen that sags in the middle. The owners should consider an upgrade."

"Cozy but comfortable B&B unit, stocked with fruit and some cold/dry goods, dedicated parking, great value for traveling family. Deep in the forest, lovely bird sounds in the evening and morning."

"Jon was an excellent host. Property is 200 yards from a lightly traveled riad so very quiet. Surrounded by tropical forest only 1 mile from entrance to volcanoes national park and 25 minutes from Hilo. Room was huge, about 27'x21' with a private covered deck to listen to the rain and pheasants who occupy the surrounding forest at night. Building has a sgared common area with common kitchen. We never saw another patron and Jon was discreet. Just what we needed to recharge our batteries and have easy access to a fantasti park."

"Beautiful setting in a remote location. The condominium was very comfortable, almost like home. Wish we could have stayed longer. If you are going to stay at Colony I, do your grocery shopping before arriving. Closest grocery store is a 30 min. drive. Same with dining. Be mindful that there are few restaurants near the property, and after 6 PM it's a 30 min drive minimum. "

"Dragonfly Ranch is surrounded by green and the song of frogs and birds. I stayed in a room with a delightful view of trees then ocean. Dragonfly is only about a 6 minute drive from a great beach for snorkeling and swimming - Two Step, right next to the Pu'uhonua o Honoaunau (Place of Refuge), which is well worth a visit. Staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. I look forward to visiting again in the future."
